funny you should say that as you consistently criticize other players in order to pump up Jitty.    Sorry everyone doesn't believe in giving participation trophies to professional athletes like you do.   Please show me the fanboard where the fans don't criticize player, coaches and the organization they are a fan of?   post the link.

For God's sake can you also stop talking about Jitty like he invented basketball??  He would be starting over Ja or Bane if the decision was up to you.  Pretty much every player on the team is solid at multiple facets of playing basketball.

Pump up?  How do I pump him up?  I am usually quoting statistics in my arguments.  Statistics which you choose to ignore in favor of using opinions on potential, old college scouting reports along with you personal basketball fantasy.  You latch onto players and pump and pump and pump.  By contrast, you eventually dislike coaches who do not conform to your fantasy game plan and then you dump and dump and dump on them.

Jury still out on Jake.   We traded multiple picks for Bane and Santi too.   Its just how they operate.     Kessler is great but we have SteveO and Jaren there was logic behind them not wanting to draft him.

Yes a team and franchise that has been begging for shooters for over a decade.  Finally has 2 of arguably the best pure shooters in the league and you still moaning about an undersized shooting guard who regularly flames out in the POs.   That is really something.

DeAnthony's last playoff series, 6 games vs. Warriors:  7.8 points pg, 4.0 rebounds pg, 1.4 assists pg, 8 steals, 5 blocks.

Kennards last playoff series, 6 games vs. Suns:              5.0 points pg, 1.0 rebounds pg, 0.7 assists pg, 1 steal, 0 blocks.

Chance that GTF will admit De'Anthony Melton is a much better player than Luke Kennard? 0.00%.

A lot of silliness there.  You know full well, and have said so, that I am always defending these players.  You're right.  I do, especially when they undeservedly get dumped on by posters like yourself, which means that YOU are initiating the point of discussion, not I.  I have rarely initiated any posts on the merits or failings of players, and have never initiated a thread on these boards in the 15+ years on here.  There are plenty of threads and posts which invite discussion.  When you publicly state your opinion on these boards, am I not allowed in the dicussion?  Am I not allowed to point out what you seem to be missing?

I sure think so. But I mainly wanted to post this clip from draft day. Such honest emotion.

March 11, 2023. The day Roddy goes into the rotation and stays there, imo. Rare when fans can ID the exact date.

Also, a new death lineup? Jaren, Dillon, Roddy, Des and Tyus? Ja replaces Tyus when he comes back. Rookies usually are pretty bad on the road, so maybe Taylor goes with Santi on the road. Or Xavier if we are facing a physical lineup.

And, most of all, forever and always, there is no longer any debate that Roddy has replaced our bust of a #10 draft pick in the roatation. Hallelujah!

I like your idea and as far as Santi and the road, from what I remember, he does not set the world on fire on the road.  He misses a ton of shots on the last couple of road trips.

IDK why this even turned into a Roddy v. Konchar thing.  With both Adams and Clarke out, Santi is the backup C, slotting Roddy in as backup PF and Kennard/Konchar as backup wings (with no backup PG really).  So both Roddy and Konchar are in the basically 9-man rotation for the duration of the regular season at least, and imo both deserve to be.  I'm pretty happy about it.

I think Roddy's best position is a small PF a not a slow SF.  Kind of like how Kyle's best position was PF.  I don't have numbers to back me up or anything that is just my intuition based on watching him play.

Well he’s not that slow at either spot I thought we had gotten past that

I think as of recently, with differing lineups, the lines have blurred on distinct positions.

Yea he has seemed to perform well in either spot lately.  I just think he needs to lineup in whichever spot he has the mismatch for that game.  Defensively he is being deployed on whoever is the best perimeter scorer.

I agree he seems like a player that can exploit an opponent weakness

Roddy's development is way ahead of schedule.  He's already a legit NBA player.

Most rookies are riding the G-league bus to go play the Fort Wayne Mad Ants.

And to think of he would have just kept him in the rotation when Ziaire came back how much further along he would have been.

Roddy in his open court drives to the basket with speed and power, imo, looks like Lebron's freight train coming at the opposing team's defender(s).

Cmon now 🙄

so glad to witness his hard work paying off for him (and us). he understands using his body and that’s something that I would think would be very hard to teach. for him, it seems instinctual. much needed injection of energy, confidence and production right now. go griz.

slim.

I know due to Roddy's breakout and potential some (including myself) wondered if he could takeover Dillons role if he isn't resigned.     I think he can but only if Bane is willing to guard the speedier PGs.   Roddy should be able to handle the bigger wings and PFs pretty competently.   While being extremely switchable on defense and better rebounding and shooting from 3.

However, i think making him 4th option in starting lineup limits his potential offensively.    I think its better use of his skills to make him primary bench scorer and exploit his versatility.    I like idea of being able to bring him off bench and sub in at either PF or wing spot where he has the advantage, when Bane or Jaren sits.   He could feast on second units and be more of a spark or game changer in situations.   Then he could be in closing lineup to provide additional scoring threat and switchable defender.    Example: In Philly game where 76ers won in clutch by Harden using our switching to get X on him instead of Dillon.   Now that would be Roddy.

I just think low usage guy works best with Big3, so id be curious if Jake would be the better option.     If he continues working on his body its possible.  I envision him as a tall Konchar that has better offensive game.  Ja Bane Jake Jaren Adams would provide plenty of spacing for Ja to operate in paint.   Plus imagine ja drive and kicks to either Bane or Jake!.  Before i get flamed this strategy occurred to me because if i anyone thinks Cam Johnson should be a target; then why can't Jake be a solution?    They are basically the same player but Jake is better rebounder, athlete, and post scorer.   Cam and Jake are basically the same size too 6'8' w/6'9wingspans.  Jake just heavier at 225lb vs Cam was skinnier when drafted at 205lbs.

if Jake shows he can defend bigger wings too then why not?   He was always pegged as having perfect role player potential.    I trust his shooting more than Roddy's and Roddy could be designated scorer off the bench.  Bringing better balance to the lineups.    I can easily envision next season Jake fitting in as a starter in place of Dillon over 3rd yr Ziaire.  I like what ive seen from him on the Hustle.

It would be nice if more than one of the 5 rookies they drafted pan out.    Just a thought.

I don’t think the lines have blurred at all. He’s clearly slid into BC’s spot and has done an excellent job as a backup big. He plays excellent next to Jaren. That’s what gives me hope that if we can just get Steve-o and Ja back for the playoffs we can still do damage.

At this point idk why people think we won’t pay Dillon. I think Dillon’s here to stay. And if he’s not I think they’ll sign and trade him for an upgrade at the position. But I also don’t think that jeopardizes Roddy’s role at all, he’s solidified in the bench front court.
