I just wish all the slander would stop for him

This is the state of our “news” media though.

He screwed up…. Big time. Sucks to have to hear about it 24/7 for like two weeks.

Will say one thing, and this is not to let Ja off the hook for the many terrible decisions he's made in the last 9 months: that photo the New York Post included in the article with his Grizzlies shorts is literally from right after a game they won from last year. Don't even have to look closely to notice the "Spalding" in the background. Kind of silly to even include it and even try to infer that he's wearing his shorts to a strip club lol.

Ja Morant.

Well, I'd like to correct my earlier comment about him showing up in his uniform.  I saw this pic in the article, didn't zoom in on it with my phone, so thought it was from Shotgun Willie's.  Thanks for pointing this out.

Deadspin on an article about how "The Code" was broken, from releasing the strip club images. I wonder if it was the owner, or just an employee that got paid to leak them.  Regardless, I doubt any athletes or famous people will be visiting that establishment anymore.

He was at a strip club, such criminal behavior. 😱

The real criminals are the people who leaked the video from the strip club. That’s weird.

If there's a positive side of these late "reveals" is that the press is already dredging the bottom of the barrel and there's probably nothing else hidden and waiting to explode.

Also, it's quite lovely how they're dropping the shocking amount of $50000 in tips as something scandalous. Of course, if you earn $50000 a year that looks like a lot, but if you earn $12M it's a pittance. In fact, it's the equivalent of spending $208 for someone on a $50000 salary. I mean, I spent that much at Costco last weekend alone.

Forgive me if it's been posted, but I read Ja checked himself in to rehab for alcohol. Has that been verified by anyone reputable?

I have not heard anything official. But if that happens, I think it's a great step. Even if Ja misses the rest of the season.

Nothing verified. As far as I can tell, the only sources for this are randos on Twitter citing "their sources in Memphis".

This is something that will happen sooner or later (if indeed there is a substance abuse problem behind all this) but when it does you bet it will be front and center in ESPN and Sports Illustrated.

Several media outlets reporting he’s gone to rehab. Even Shaq mentioned it in a podcast.

This article mentions the gun belonged to his security detail.

If this is true, I would imagine that there’s no official suspensions from league or team, and Ja returns after rehab and any other steps the team puts in place for him to complete.

imo, the whole thing is blown out of proportion.   Unfortunately for Ja, he is going to have to do at the steps to appease - so he can get back on the court and be part of the Grizzlies championship run.

I agree. It’s basically a scene from a rap music video. He didn’t break any laws. But like others have said, it’s probably a good thing it happened now, instead of later with more repercussions.  Hopefully this is a wake up call for Ja, and the Morant family, and everyone will now be better because of it.

i think it's irresponsible to make this claim w/o any solid evidence & info. Also why isn't anyone talking about how the NYP article quoted one of the workers saying he went twice & the second night (gun flashing incident) he didnt drink. I would like to hear less about this and more about when he'll be back on the court. The longer this is dragged out the more it appears to be overblown

I think so too because its hard to see the negative press slowing down anytime soon.   Tyus bout to turn into a huge trade chip this offseason.

Why?  He has a partying issue, he’s not injured. No need to sabotage our playoffs. Let him get counseling for a couple weeks, then bring him back. For away trips, replace his phone with a jitterbug and put tape over his hotel room door.

Dude, they are softening it.  This is more than just wearing some fake gold teeth and acting like an IG thug.  If thats all it was they woulda kept playing him.  Probably drinking or substance abuse.

I know u wanna see him hoop but let this man get his life together before he loses control.

I include drinking with partying. If he’s taking things serious it may be possible he can come back and play if we keep a close eye on him and he still does counseling on off days, and continue to do what’s needed after the season. I don’t know how serious things are, so if longer in-treatment facility time is needed, then of course, do what is needed.

Yea im in favor of the young man fully growing from this experience.  This is bigger than basketball.   If this stuff didn't get nipped in the bud when he is 23 then it wouldve been impossible to overcome after $200m salary kicked in.

Honestly glad to hear he is getting some kind of help for what is ailing him.

Stay strong Ja! People are people. We all make mistakes.

As I said earlier, whatever those evaluating him thinks he needs, I hope he gets. But as reported, he wasn’t even drinking the night of the video. So I think this may be more of a poor decisions and irresponsibility issue.
