With Dillon on bench for small ball lineup its championship level defense top to bottom but no go to guy on offense. But again, who knows if Ja's size and no jumpshot prevents him from being a real go to guy.

And that's why I think he'll be perfect in San Antonio or Houston. He will fill the seats in those arenas and bring spark back inside those organizations. Just hope they can bring back a #2 pick for him for Morant/Ziaire. I think Ja will actually fit perfectly in Detroit because Ja will play with his good friend, Jaden Ivey. Scoot Henderson may not fill the seats in San Antonio or Houston. I do like the Morant for Halliburton trade. The Grizzlies have options this summer to do what they want to do. I just hope the fans know they may not be excited about trading Ja because the Grizz may have to be okay with "losing" a trade just to ship Ja out of town. Will Houston, San Antonio, and Detroit be willing to give up their #1 pick (just ask) or their #2 pick (especially Detroit because them getting Ja with Ivey, Cunningham, Bogdonovic, Wiseman, and Duren) puts Detroit in win now mode. I'm shocked Detroit is actually tanking this year. I mean, they can call Sacramento and see if they want to get rid of Fox, call Atlanta and see if they want to get rid of Trae Young, call Indiana and see if they want to get rid of Halliburton. Call Portland and see if they want to get rid of Lillard (I do want picks coming back to Memphis in that deal because of Damian's age and contract). If that means that Ziaire and Roddy or LaRavia are gone too, then that's fine. But the #1 objective to do this summer is to weigh options. As we have seen as of late in the NBA, anybody can be traded in the NBA.
srmjr23 0 Report post Posted March 4 48 minutes ago, ACGrizz said: I would do Ja for Haliburton straight up in a heartbeat. I don't even need any picks included from Indy. Haliburton is a stud, a much better shooter and defender and seems like a great teammate with no issues off the court. Also one year behind Ja in terms of contract trajectory. He's also 6'5", so he pairs quite nicely with Bane. You lose the explosiveness/athleticism and some of the on-court "wow" factor of Ja, but like someone else said before (GTF, think it's you), the model of small, non-shooting PG doesn't equate to championships. Ok. Lol. Yall need to take a breath. Get outside, reevaluate. This will pass. Ja will mature as young men do, and we will be fine. Breath.
Grizzliesfan777 0 Report post Posted March 4 Still pretty early to call for a trade - even as absolutely mind-numbingly stupid as Ja has been of late. That said, he’s a known quantity (25-30 PPG + 7-10 APG) at a key position and is only 23 and locked up for a few years. You don’t trade him for another guy unless it’s for only a handful of players OR a top 1-2 pick + a few talented young guys at minimum. I still think this all blows over with a multi-game suspension, while hopefully it sends a message to Ja to stop hanging out with trash and stop trying to be hard because everyone sees through it. Just really hoping this is the wake up call for him to chill and reevaluate who he associates with. This is also all the more reason this team needs to cut out the youth movement at this point and get some real vets on the team. Guys like Danny Green (albeit healthy) who have been in the league for a decade and have been in winning teams who can keep the young guns in line when stuff like this happens off the court and when things go wrong on the court. Its also why pairing a young unproven head coach with a team full of young guys is probably starting to show its negatives. You need one side or the other to at least be experienced. cdp 0 Report post Posted March 4 Yea talking trading Ja, not gonna happen. He needs to smarten up and it's gotta be him that does it, these incidents aren't on his parents or his friends it's all on him. He's got to know he's got to move differently now, stop putting yourself into situations like this where other people can take advantage of you on social media and in real life. If I'm Silver I nip this in the butt and suspend him a game. Kyrie and Meyers Leonard got suspended for retweeting and saying a word respectively. This is an actual action that shouldn't be glorified.

I was thinking about that kid suing Ja, how some people were calling out the kid. He's just doing something just about everyone else would do in that situation; trying to get a little money out of a millionaire. Ja has to recognize there's going to be people left right and center trying to do that. I had a feeling it was "bud", but Ja needs a nip on the *** to wake him the **** up anyways lol

Breath. I've thought we'd be better off from a basketball perspective with another PG over Ja before all this off-the-court nonsense; the off-the-court nonsense just makes it slightly more possible that we'd actually trade Ja whereas before there was no chance we'd ever move off of him. Just looking through there are 4 PGs I see that could be in the conversation if they really were to move off of Ja: Haliburton Fox SGA Garland Fox and Garland, i don't think make the team better and we end up playing a similar stylistic game - Garland is a better shooter, but worse at creating/drawing fouls I think. Haliburton and SGA I think would be a better fit for this team though. Teams don't win championships with high-usage, poor shooting smaller point guards with defensive deficencies. It's really, really hard to come up with a feasible Ja trade. I gotcha. But yeah, no reason to trade him since equal return for his value is not going to be seen in a trade. He’s a proven commodity at age 23 who still is years away from his prime and under a multi-year contract, but it’s unlikely any team is going to be willing (or able to) to trade multiple starter-level players and/or multiple high picks to acquire him. Thus, you’ll never get close to a fair return on him. Plus, most of the teams that might have the ammo to pull such a trade are basically in this division, which makes a trade even less likely imo. Just because you like to be messy and obsess over NBA players lives and try to call them names, doesn't mean everybody wants to hear this mess. This is so inconsequential to the success of the Grizz or what's going on. As I said, if he committed a real crime, report it. This all started because you said that the local media didn't report it and I was just explaining why they didn't report. It's a nothing burger and furthermore TMZ pays for stories. This is so silly. Where is ODK now, lol? He assured us many times Ja's bad off-court behavior was 'inconsequential to the success of the Grizz". And it's a nothing burger.
