Emoni Bates - mister inconsistent.  Had 36 vs South Carolina but SC is surprisingly undersized for the SEC.

Illinois State held him to 9 points.  And he recently had a 2-14 shooting game vs Bowling Green State.  I'm not sold on him.

Kris Murray might have more substance.

Don’t have much of a feel either way for Maxwell Lewis and Jett Howard.

I basically have (in order) Amen/Wemby/Ausar/Scoot as the Mount Rushmore top 4 of this draft then Brandon Miller/Gradey D/Clowney/George/Cason Wallace after that basically.  Twins/Wemby/Scoot are Tier 1.0 (or better).  Those secondary guys (and probably Jarace Walker and maybe a couple more are Tier 2.0/Tier 2.5.

After that I might put Moneyball guys from 15-25.  Alex Fudge types (if he continues to play well and if his metrics hold up).

The Arkansas and Duke guys might just be overrated.  I like Cam Whitmore if he can be a Dillon Brooks/Bane/Nick Anderson power wing type.  If he’s just a tweener forward then I like him less.

Maybe there’s a Trey Murphy III type out there....

I would like to get Noah Clowney.  I think he really starts to move up the boards.

I am gonna look at advanced stats more.  Plus, guys who "fit".

... Chris Livingston just scored for Kentucky. He's an interesting prospect.  I would be ok with that pick.

Clowney just hit a 3.  I have him as a top 5-8 pick.

P.S.  Dereck Lively has been a big disappointment for Duke.  BUT, in the right system I think he could be ok.  Could end up being a John Salley type which, ironically was one of my comps for Jaren (3 and D John Salley).  Lively's shot might not be legit but he has some tools to work with.

P.P.S. Jaime Jaquez, Jr. is a Grit 'n Grind looking type player.  He could fit.

P.P.P.S. Whoever comes out of this draft with Amen Thompson and Noah Clowney will WIN the draft.

NOBODY goes FULL MEH quite like Latte JaVale!

OR, is it EMONIYAMA (for the lack of vertical pop/utter lack of shot selection discretion)????

Victorbeet EmoniBowieyama just went for 11 and 7 going 1/7 on 3’s in a loss.

Makes me want to draft Jamarion Sharp in the second round.  At least he KNOWS he’s just gonna be a (taller) glorified Tree Rollins.

Oops Team Wemby actually WON their Parisian Barista League game today.

Vic finished with 4 blocks but he also had 5 turnovers and ZERO assists.

I think teams are “quiet tanking” for Amen or Brandon Miller or Keyonte George.

Our future is almost set...

Guard rotation:

Ja/Bane/?

Wing rotation:

DB/Ziaire (?)/Laravia (Yeah, I believe in Laravia more than Ziaire)

Big rotation:

Jaren/Clarke/Santi

Things we still could add to the roster...

A big combo guard, aka Giddey or Dyson Daniels or Brogdon

A 3&D wing, aka OG or Murphy or Grant

Another elite defender, aka OG or Isaac or Herb Jones

Julian Phillips has good size for a wing.  Terrance Shannon Jr. is built like Desmond Bane/Dillon Brooks.  I can see both being on our radar.

Ausar Thompson is that "two way athletic wing with UPSIDE" but I doubt he drops that far (and I doubt we have enough assets to move up).  His twin brother Amen is still at the top of my board.  I just think his CEILING/UPSIDE is super high even if his "baseline" is "only" Baby Penny with a lower floor comp of something like DELUXE Tony Wroten with a better motor/BBIQ/defense.

Tankathon has us taking an "upside" guy with our mid-2nd rounder (Baba Miller) and two solid, fairly athletic players (with upside on defense) with our other two picks (Noah Clowney in the first round and Andre Jackson Jr. with our late second round pick).

... I am not even sure there is a Trey Murphy III or even a Dyson Daniels or Herb Jones in this draft.  This draft has more chuckers/combo guards/raw wings.

PG: Kendric Davis, Isaiah Wong (undersized combo?), Tyrese Hunter, Tyger Campbell, Jazian Gortman, Marcus Sasser, Jamal Shead

SG/Wing/Combo Guard: Colby Jones, Terrance Shannon, Jr., Sidy Cissoko, Leonard Miller (small ball 4?), Andre Jackson, Jr., Jaime Jaquez, Jr., Dillon Mitchell (hyped up, fell, can't shoot, not too toolsy but can rebound/dunk/defend and has a high motor... Dennis Rodman LITE vibes), Matthew Murrell, Drew Peterson

Big/Combo Big: N'faly Dante, Adem Bona, Jamarion Sharp, Kaodirichi Akobundu-Ehiogu, Tristan Vukcevic, Moussa Cisse, Armando Bacot, Keion Brooks, Jr., Trevon Brazile (INJURED)

Guess there are lots of college games this weekend.

Maybe we can still win the draft even if we don’t get Wemby or Scoot or Brandon Miller or one of the Thompson Twins.

The top guys on my draft watch list now (Moneyball-ish players we can get): Terrence Shannon Jr. (Wing) and N’faly Dante along with Drew Peterson (point forward-esque skill set).

Shannon Jr. might be one of the better wings on the board (outside the Tier 1 and Tier 2 guys).

N’faly Dante looks like a candidate for best non-Wemby big in the draft (and perhaps a better fit as Adams backup/Jaren tag team partner) than Jarace Walker or Noah Clowney.  I would assume that Jarace/Clowney are off the board by the time we pick anyway.

We worked out Drew Peterson last summer (before he went back to USC). Maybe we are still keeping tabs on him.

All 3 look like sneaky All Rookie 2nd team types.

Lets consider we really trade Chandler + Ziaire + Green + picks for OG.

We should draft a combo guard like Andre Jackson to be the project of the team.

Ja/Tyus/Andre

Bane/DB/Konchar

OG/Laravia/Vince

Jaren/Santi/Roddy

Adams/Clarke/Tillman

Andre Jackson, Jr. has lots of upside.  He can be our "Melton replacement".  I like the idea of getting more perimeter defense.  We can get someone to help out with shot blocking/INTERIOR defense in the 2nd round probably....

There is good value there in the 2nd round, Andre Jackson might be available there too.

I like Tubelis as a big of the bench, special if we end starting Santi/Jaren.

Could you imagine if we find a way to keep Ziaire in how long our bench will be in a couple of years?

Andre/Ziaire/Laravia/Tubelis/Clarke

Is he a power forward?

Combo forward?

My draft board is weird -- and getting weirder.

Amen Thompson reminds me of a video game version of Tony Wroten -- and he is the TOP guy on my draft board.

Wemby gives off lots of Bill Cartwright vibes -- and that is one of the things I LIKE about him.  Probably number 2ish on my board.

Ausar: Broke Ron Harper?  Shades of Sidney Moncrieff?  3-5 or so.

Brandon Miller is GOOD.  Reminds me of Reggie Lewis a lot, although I think Brandon Miller is taller.  4 or so on my board.

Scoot: BPA available.

But, after that top 5, I think it really falls off.  After that I would go after the best big man available...

Gradey  D hasn't hit a shot in a week.  Keyonte George is good, but is he TOO SMALL?

I think the draft has a lot of solid bigs....  draft for wings and ESPECIALLY point guards drops off really, really quick.  Kendric Davis is probably my favorite non-Scoot Henderson/Amen Thompson point guard.

Teams should probably just take who they want as high as 6.  I think we can have another good draft.  Guess that depends on what we are looking for.

If Tubelis can play the 4 AND some 3 then that would help.

Is he similar at all to Lauri Markkanen?  Factory Outlet Banchero?

I think I’m ready for the team to start back drafting guys for specific roles I think they have enough guys with all around games.

Like give me the elite college defender Uber athletic guy who maybe can’t shoot but has a workable jumper.

Or give me the irrational confidence scorer who I can bring in off the bench and see if he’s hitting shots tonight type player.

Or give me the defensive big that blocks shots and rebounds and is a lob threat but doesn’t have much of an offensive game outside of 15ft.

This team just really seems to be lacking guys that fit specific roles and some games you can really see the impact of that.

Guys I like this summer

Arthur Kaluma screens Grizz target that will get drafted two picks ahead of them

Daron Holmes long athletic center prospect

Ricky Council

Jordan Hawkins

Grant Nelson

Baba Miller

Jordan Hawkins is good.  Streaky shooter but explosive scoring potential.  John Starks vibes.

Baba Miller hasn't done much yet...  not sure what to make of him.  Probably not someone I would trade up for.

As far as WING PLAYERS I would trade up for... I think Ausar Thompson might be moving down the boards some.  He could be really good for us.  He's actually a more athletic version of a Melton/Slo Mo hybrid.

Julian Phillips looks like a really good 2 way small forward prospect (in our range or someone we can trade up for).

Terrence Shannon, Jr. should be in our range.  He would fit the FO's MO.

DaRon Holmes looks solid.  But, we already have BC and Aldama as Jaren's backups (power forwards).  Would Holmes/Jaren be a good combo? Maybe.

Since we have 3 picks this year, I think we get one big, one wing/perimeter player and then either trade the other pick or use it on a draft/stash prospect.

I truly believe the guys that wanted to move up for in the draft were for Josh Giddey and Dyson Daniels.    What do they have in common besides Country of Origin??  They are both Bigger Playmaking Ballhandling Wings.

So my draft guru grizzboard members just tell who is 6'7'+ w/PG skills and can play defense?    I think that is who they are going to target.

They need to stop targeting all these playmakers and start targeting the two things they lack shot creation on the perimeter and interior defense. They have enough playmakers.

Big play maker can’t score then they need to pass on him this go around

Baba is my sleeper pick, cause this draft doesn’t look like it has too many guys in our range that will contribute immediately next season so going high upside with Baba could be smart.

His big selling point is that he grew from 6’2  to 6’11 and he still has all his playmaking skills and lateral quickness on defense. It’s almost like he grew that size over night cause he doesn’t do a lot of the big man things all that well and his game resembles that of a guard.

Holmes is a center in my mind I don’t view him as a pf at all I’ve be screaming for a rim running athletic big for years and they keep avoiding it. Holmes and Jaren would probably play pretty well together cause Holmes is a high motor big that plays in a traditional center role.

I like Terrence Shannon too but I don’t know how much better he is than Vince Williams they seem like they might be similar in style that’s why I didn’t include him.

Phillips can’t create his own offense so I didn’t include him.

Julian Strawther is another wing I like but I’m not sure if he can create for himself either and that’s a big priority for me when it comes to adding another wing.

To answer your question there are a couple guys who would fit this criteria in the Grizz drafting range but not many.

Jalen Hood-Schifino

Jalen Wilson went back to school to work on his playmaking and shooting

Mojave King doesn’t seem to be a playmaker but he’s an Australian scorer

Big Playmakers that can shoot absolutely can get buckets.    Giddy gets Buckets.   I bet Dyson can too but that's not his role currently.   The current guys on our team that fit this mold can score too (bane santi and Roddy).  Jitty is the outlier.

Typically if you have advance dribble and passing skills, u can get buckets.

Thanks!    My advance NBA draft algorithm says to draft a dude named "Jalen".   That has the most probability for success.

I like Hood-Schifinon the most but he can end up out of the Grizz range if he continues to play well.

I would take either of those Jalen’s but this draft doesn’t really look all that good to me.
