chipc3 0 Report post Posted May 20 Orlando winning the lottery creates some interesting options for the Grizzlies. Orlando is going to take a big in the draft. That means either Wendell Carter or Mo Bamba could be available this summer. Carter is signed for five years on a very manageable contract ($50 million for 4 seasons). Bamba wasn't offered an extension last year and is a restricted free agent this summer. The Grizzlies could offer a sign and trade deal involving Kyle Anderson and a future draft pick (or a player like De'Anthony Melton) and Bamba comes to Memphis. It's a risk for Memphis as Bamba averaged just 10 PPG and 8 RPG last season but he can block shots and shoots 38% from the arc. You have to assume Orlando wants to open up a spot for either Holmgren or Smith and Bamba wants to get paid too. Doing a joint S&T allows the Grizzlies to get something for Kyle Anderson (who's a UFA this summer) and fill a position of need. Orlando gets a valuable veteran who can tutor the youngsters on the team and unloads a player they didn't like enough last season to extend.
