I would sign or trade for a veteran shooter I like the plan, although I'd be fine bringing Melton back if we can't find a trade with good return. He's a good player on a fairly cheap multi year contract and he was one of our best shooters and defenders this year. No need to throw him away for nothing in return. King Dork 0 Report post Posted Saturday at 02:54 PM 1)Keep Ja, Jaren, Bane, Ziaire, BC, Adams and Tyus as your core. 2)Get me OG Anunoby for a package centered around DB. 3)Go get Thomas Bryant as our 4th big who can shoot in free agency. 4)Scrap that whole plane and trade or let go of anyone not named Ja, Jaren or Bane if you can get Zach Lavine in a sign and trade from Chicago. russian grizzly 0 Report post Posted Saturday at 03:25 PM 1. Trade Adams and draft his replacement (a 7-footer screen-pass rim-protector). Adams needs a new contract and, therefore, starting centre minutes next season, and we afford neither those minutes nor his new contract because guys like Looney can beat him. 2. Let Kyle and Tyus go. They are bench, role players, though very good. We have to learn how to use cheap veterans for their roles. 3. Trade Dillon to get a high-caliber prospect or pick or, if there is an opportunity presented, a star. Otherwise, keep him and wait. 4. Keep developing Melton. He hasn’t reached neither his ceiling nor maturity. 5. Trade up to get BPA in top-20. This draft is amazing. 6. Finally, keep making us proud of this team. bhoyal 0 Report post Posted Saturday at 03:57 PM Keep Slo-Mo. He's multi-versatile. A swiss-army-knife kind of player. Konchar is too. Tillman/Culver = gone. Melton, I'm on the fence about.

Thegoodguys 0 Report post Posted Saturday at 04:34 PM 2 main off season goals in my mind. 1) figure out how to incorporate ja into the team offense and better into the defense. The offense runs so much more smoothly and bane and trip play much better when Ja is off the floor. We need to adjust the scheme and get ja bought in to change this. This means more plays and less standing and watching ja. 2) Get the role players around Ja, Bane, and trip that put the in the best situation to succeed. To me this is a rim running/rim protecting center, a 3&D 3/stretch 4, and Clarke. The center makes it so we can go big with two shoot blockers and have somebody catch lobs to punish centers that try to protect the rim when ja gets in the paint. The 3&D wing can play next to ja and bane on the perimeter as our starting 3 or side into the 4 spot next to trip at the 5 when we want to go small with shooting. Then we use Clarke as a perimeter defender and post player at the he 4 next to trip to punish teams that go small like the wolves and clippers. Moves in the off-season: 1) try to trade Brooks and picks for OG. 2) draft the center, a 3&D wing, and a backup pg for Tyus insurance and in case ja or Tyus get injured. 3) bring back Tyus on a reasonable deal if we can and let the others FAs walk
bhoyal 0 Report post Posted Saturday at 05:15 PM There are some low-price combo guards in free agency. Malik Monk, Shake Milton, Compazzo... We are in an era suddenly when free agents will want to join the Grizz. But who gets drafted will have something to do with how things "shake" out. Our old buddy Jevon Carter is available for low low low money. But he's no Tyus Jones.

ItIsWhatItIs 0 Report post Posted Saturday at 07:32 PM 49 minutes ago, russian grizzly said: I believe it is not possible. Mainly, due to our FO’s proven competence. You don't like a career 15 and 6 guy that can shoot average from 3, guard 3/4s and has already proven to be a valuable role player on a title winning team? Also plays around 70 games a year which is good when the rest of the core is a little fragile
grizzknob 0 Report post Posted Saturday at 07:37 PM BC is eligible for an extension, same as Ja, right? Give Ja the no-brainer max extension obviously, and then I'd also like to lock up BC. To me that's the most important priority. I view the long term core as Ja, Bane, JJJ and Clarke, personally. ZW will have the opportunity play his way into that mix and I hope he does. Would really love to bring Tyus back too, hopefully we can work it out. I think it may be time to move on from Kyle, even though I appreciate what he brings to the table, just based on the rest of the roster.
Grizzliesfan777 0 Report post Posted Saturday at 07:59 PM Idk which thread we are using for our off-season goals anymore, so I’ll post this here as well…. My unrealistic dream: -Get OG if you can somehow get him for Dillon, and picks. Overspend a little if needed. If he’s absolutely unavailable, go for Jeremi Grant in Detroit - who will probably be cheaper. -Use Adams expiring and other assets as needed to get Myles Turner. -Pray Ziaire improves enough (like Bane from last year to this year) to start at SG, making Bane the best 6th man in the league. Bane is starting quality on offense but Ziaire’s length will make him the better option if he can just bring his offense along this off-season. -Resign Tyus. Let Culver and Slow Mo walk. -Find a good 3 point specialist if possible. -Find experienced and savvy playoff veterans nearing their final years to help guide the young guns on the team. Guys like Taj Gibson for example Results: OG(or Grant)/Myles/Ziaire as starters paired with Jaren makes the grizzlies the best defensive starting 5 in the league even with Ja being a poor defender. Meanwhile, the offense actually improves as OG/Grant is a clear offensive upgrade to Dillon while playing more within the system. Finally, older veterans help guide the team through the tough games and adversity. Grizzlies win 50-60 games and make the playoffs as a top 2 seed again and raw-dog the west en route to the finals and a championship. Hey it worked on 2K. Thomas 0 Report post Posted Saturday at 10:02 PM To me, the biggest takeaways from this season are they need rebounding, more reliable shooting, and more options beyond Ja who can score off the dribble. I think they can get away with identifying certain pieces to fill these gaps rather than bringing in a star level guy. Ja really can do it on his own but when he's not available things can get really ugly in crunch time when the clamps come down. I wouldn't mind moving on from Tyus to bring in more of a scoring backup guard, kind of what Reggie Jackson was to Westbrook in OKC. I'd look to replace Brooks/Anderson with a long, 3&D glue types who have a more reliable shot on the wing. They also need to be thinking about a long-term replacement for Adams. Ideally you could find a bouncy athlete who can rebound at an elite level and be a real threat rolling to the basket with Ja. That seems like the most complimentary skillset for this core's weaknesses - that rebounding performance in the elimination game was an eye-opener. Duren would have been an obvious target with that Lakers pick, maybe they can move up if he slides a bit. Ayton would be an unreal talent upgrade and fit but don't see that as a particularly realistic scenario. So I'd be focusing on finding more shot creators off the bench, a long 3&D wing to replace Brooks (Ziaire's development will also be important here), and an athletic rebounder at Center. Not too tall of a task.

Grizzled Vet 0 Report post Posted Sunday at 01:52 AM Given this FO's history, they aren't signing a free agent. It's going to be internal development. The question is Kyle and Tyus. I would welcome both back depending on the size of their contract. I expect if either returns, it will be front loaded. I don't expect both to be back, especially Kyle. As @bhoyal already mentioned, Kyle's value is his versatility. He can guard a lot of positions and fill in as a ball handler and a post. Tyus could be signed as a starter elsewhere on a bad team or a backup on a good team. He's the greater priority to sign.
