Tank for a live body on the wing that can score.  Sign a high level 3D wing with your cap space.  It's such an easy path to be a top level contender and we are right there.

To tank or not to tank that is the question.

I'm confused. What is your opinion of Jalen Suggs? Do you think he is a good player or not? You seem to be very ambigious of your opinion of him.

Yeah, it's a matter of if we are in a position to acquire those 2 types of players. If we can acquire 2 players like that in the offseason, it's on and popping for next season. The logjam can be figured out for future assets.

OK, can you be a little more clear? I'm not sure I know where you stand with Suggs?

If we tank I want Mobley, Green or Cade in that order.  That’s my Big 3.  Suggs (as well as Kuminga) is closer to that grouping that includes Moody/Bouknight/Barnes.  Kispert is probably another mid/late lotto lock.  Teams need shooting and he can shoot.  Dosunmu is probably another guy in that range.  At this rate he probably goes anywhere from 8-18.  Wouldn’t be shocked if that is basically the top 10.  And that might be all of Tier 1, Tier 2 and Tier 3.

I posted an updated lotto on the draft thread a couple of days ago.  If we can’t get one of the Big 3 then we should look at going after 3 sleeper picks: Ibou Dianko-Badji, Josh Giddey and Isaiah Todd.

I think that Jalen Suggs is the guy we all thought OJ Mayo would be with shades of who he actually turned into, so, Mayo Lite.

Kuminga is the guy we all thought Rudy Gay would be with shades of who he actually turned into, so, ummm, Rudy Lite.

I agree, can we finally have some lucky and strike gold? A Ja/Cade pair is good enought to get us into the scene and Ja/Cade/Jaren is one of the best big 3 teams would have assemble via draft.

We have our point guard of the future - let's surround him with 3-and-D players.  Who are the best options?

lol, did i not get the memo, i thought that was what they were doing all year.

the grizzlies are terrible this year, unwatchable and may not get better any time soon. I have serious doubts about Ja's potential and jaren is just one bad injury away from being our new rudy gay.

were not tanking..were a 500 team, and if we move off of that average for apparent sitting of players more than is normal, trading of assets etc..Silver and or NBA competition committee will step in.  I

Silver and Stern have made these calls and they threaten sanctions etc...we will never know but they do and their not amicable. Other teams can sue the Grizz for tanking...Tanking damages the NBA brand and the Grizz. It lowers tickets sales and revenues, which harms the rest of the league through revenue sharing of profits.  OK, no gate receipts with Covid you say?  What happens when we play other teams that are tanking, can we play worse than them?  The players dont' want to tank, Jenkins doesnt want to tank, our ownership doesnt want to tank....the current CBA and free agency rules are the problem on team competitivenss and so is the DRAFT.

The way out of this is to build the way we appear to be approaching it. ...were in year 2 or 3 of a uggghhh rebuild.  Were a playoff team, we need to normalize that expectation.  The franchise is already thinking that way...but the fans are not.

That disconnect is the fans issue...enjoy the ride and the experiences along the way.  You tank, you lose a lot more.

Jalen Suggs Could Help the Right NBA Team Level Up

https://www.theringer.com/nba/2021/2/24/22298351/jalen-suggs-nba-draft-scouting-report-gonzaga

His ability to make the right read over and over again is why he’s so efficient. He doesn’t take bad shots (59.3 percent from 2-point range on 6.8 attempts per game) or cough the ball up (1.6:1 assist-to-turnover ratio).

I bought my wife a dachshund a couple years ago, I cringed every time I saw him walk through that snow last week. Poor little fella.

Ja/Cade/Jaren and whatever we can get for Utah & GSW’s picks plus filler would be a monster lineup. Big 4 with Brad Beal!!!!!

No. 3 & D dudes do not win championship without high level playmakers 1st.

The 3/D guys make good 4th and 5th options.  But I guess it’s better than nothing.  Even stat geeks at The Stepien know that you shouldn’t overdraft of overpay these types.

Exactly. Look at the Lakers right now. Even LeBron, one of the best playmakers in NBA history can’t drag the 3&D dudes on his roster to winning at a high level without AD and Dennis Schröder. You need the top line talent before you think about filling out a roster.

Last year they had 1 and 1a with LeBron and AD — possibly and ideal superstar tandem.  But they also had sky-scraping rim protection/lob threats with Javale McGee and Dwight Howard.  Danny Green.  The less top line talent you have the more Swiss Army guys you need.  Even then, get a 1 and 1a.  Standard issue backup point guard, a rim protector, a stretch big man, and enforcer inside and a shooting specialist on the wing — that’s only 7 guys. So you still might need 5 or 6 Swiss Army types.  We’ve got 1/1a plus a plethora of Swiss Army Knives. The inside bruising scorer, the overqualified backup point guard... we could obviously use an awesome third option aka 1c or 2/2a/2b.  But other than that we need a freak rim runner/rim protector and some shooters.  Probably at least one more on the wing and another stretch big man.  With Dieng being overpaid (on an expiring deal), Tyus over-qualified, low ceiling Konchar and YMCA-level athlete Jontay Porter are probably the most expendable.  Maybe you have to use Grayson Allen to move up in the draft for Corey Kispert.  Then take a 2nd round flyer on Ibou Badji or Jericho Sims or maybe Jay Huff to be a deep bench shot blocker.
