I think we can seriously go 5-0 in those first 5 games. Those last 3 are tough, but who knows, team that are locked into their place may rest or limit minutes for key guys by the end of the 8 games.

Could see Bucks sitting some players before the games start, especially since there is no home court advantage.

Honestly, except for those first 3 games, those last 5 teams have no incentive that I know of to play starters a full game.

5-weeks to go still. May need to modify some vacation plans.

And it looks like there will be several afternoons where work isn't getting done.

Wonder if there will be some version of whatever it would be called that's equivalent to a pre-season games.

The post-initial season pre-season bubble season.

I think its hard to hate Zion... he seems like a genuinely humble, well-raised kid... plus he's Ja's buddy... but I **** sure hate the way the NBA is trying to shove him in everyone's face.

The only good news is we can go 0-8 and still be in 9th place realistically, so we'd still have a shot at the play series. If we go 4-4 we should still be the 8th seed.

Uhghh ... math

Can a resident numbers guy / girl break it down for me way in the back?

is it possible for us to rise to 7th place?

how close are we really from missing the playoffs.

how likely is it for us to kick the door off the hinges and make some noise in the playoffs.

I guess Dallas's magic number is 2 games.

If they win one, and Memphis goes undefeated, I believe the Grizzlies have higher winning percent, but a Dallas win and Memphis loss eliminates the Grizzlies from 7th.

To keep from triggering the play-in game, the Grizzlies have to actually have a better record than any of those teams over the 8 games.  So if they all go 5-3, a 6-2 record eliminates the need for a play-in tournament, I believe.

For 8th, Kings, Pelicans & Blazers are all effectively 3.5 games behind Grizzlies.

If Grizzlies win 4, that means for any to pass them, they would need to win 7 to jump us.

If Grizzlies win 3, that means for any to pass, they would need to win 6.  That is, to me, the only realistic scenario where Grizzlies aren't in 8th place.

If Grizzlies win 2 of 8, they probably sit 9th or out, and probably don't deserve it.

Also, for all practical purposes, if they sweep those Portland and Pelicans, I don't think the play-in games will be needed.
