Anthony Edwards didn't look too impressive today against Memphis but UGA won.

Did any of the Memphis Tigers players play well?

Did Zion and Ja BREAK college basketball????

Was Zion vs. Tacko in the 2nd round the PEAK of college basketball???

Are Markus Howard and Mac McClung BOTH going top 5?  Do Tres Tinkle and Xavier Tillman have top 10 potential???  Achiuwa in the running for the top spot?  Do I have to do a deep dive on Makur Maker?  Does Vernon Barely Care or is he a lotto lock????

Precious. Harris and Boogie were kind of ok but everybody else sucked.

Markus Howard is on fire right now against Georgetown. Why didn’t I turn this game on earlier??? I had a feeling it was on Fox Sports 1.

Howard is a munchkin flamethrower but he might be useful weapon off our bench paired with either Ja (Tiny Ball) or Melton. Best off as a 6th man.

Mac McClung supposedly doing well too.

If anyone wants... I might do an alternate big board for an EXTREME BASKETBALL ASSOCIATION -- a league that has a 4 point line 30 feet out but gets rid of the 3 point line.

SO... what looks like a really BAD NBA draft looks like a really AWESOME XBA Draft!!!

Right now, I think the class is about Wiseman, Edwards, Ball and Avdija. Green, Achiuwa and others have potential, but I believe last year was better than this one.

I dont think the Jazz pick will allow us to draft a specialist, a 3pt shooter, I dont know who could be that guy. But, if we cant find anyone like that maybe we trade that pick for someone that has this skill

The top of the board actually looks pretty good.

James Wiseman ghosting on college ball took away our #EasyButton options of doing deep dives into his talent/skill set/production/projection.

Deni doesn't look bad.  His last few highlights look really, really good.

Might be a different draft than I thought -- I thought it would be deep from, like, 6-10, but I actually think it is weaker there -- maybe no sure-fire high level starters there.  BUT, top 5 looks solid and then 11 or mid-lottery on down looks good-to-great.

Markus Howard can shoot but he is TINY -- and only hitting a third of his 3's.

Tres Tinkle has nice numbers (counting stats) but doesn't look like an athlete.  Although his floor game might be good.

Matt Mitchell at 1... man, I LOVE that dunk.  Good size, especially if the Z position (in honor of Zion Williamson) becomes a thing.  Just a quick look at his stats shows that Mr. Mitchell can fill it up a bit.  Has some games where he hit the 3 ball well.  And, SDSU is undefeated.

Xavier Tillman looks good as an all-around big man.  Ideal third or fourth big, but could masquerade as a secondary big man on a team like ours that has Jaren as the stretch big long-term.

Makur Maker is a wild card.

Josh Green probably won't be there with the Suns' pick.

Naji Marshall might.  Saddiq Bey could be there.  Maybe we should look at DJ Jeffries....  another local product to look at (that I have high but mostly based on RAW POTENTIAL): Chandler Lawson, who is now at Oregon.  Cassius Stanley threw down an awesome dunk last week.  Either he is the poor man's Scottie Lewis or Scottie Lewis is the poor man's Cassius Stanley.  Not sure yet.

I actually like Jarron Cumberland where we are.  A power wing who can run some offense (supposedly) but I have watched very little of Cincy this season.

Borisa Simanic is a tall/lanky Euro Stash shooter that I like.  Can also dunk -- which helps.  Stretch bigs might be something to look at, especially if no real 3 and D guy is still left.

Two transfer portal guys we should maybe look into: Kahlil Whitney and Shareef O'Neal.  Can we TALK to guys about coming out?

Nick Richards and Jericho Sims and Kylor Kelley are your basic rim runners.  40 might be high, but who knows....  guess we could either trade UP or down.  Doubt we need extra point guards but Tre Jones (probably a late lotto guy at this point), Ashton Hagans, Cassius Winston, Payton Prichard and maybe even Scotty Pippen, Jr./Mac McClung look like solid prospects.

The second round actually looks pretty deep, too.  Lots of fairly "good" talent that project as "role players at the pro level, even if only as 2 way prospects".

Almost forgot about Jaden McDaniels -- which should tell you something about Jaden McDaniels.

I wish we could get Wiseman, but he will probably be the 1st pick in the next year draft. Looking the numbers of Deni Avidja against his age players, he could develop into the wing star we miss for a long time. He is 6'9 and can play sg-pf, has the shooting form that resembles Klay Thompson and has some pretty good handles for his size. Plus he is a good defender, that is the type of project we should take a risk.  Although I believe its nearly impossible, I would try to move to a top 5-8 pick, maybe Allen + Josh rights + picks to get Deni.

Deni might go higher than even that.

Although if we think he is “the guy” (or if someone else is) I am wondering when we start to use those Jazz and Warriors picks....

i think we need to optimize our picks — might be our best way to maximize the process. Whether that is trading up, trading down, or packaging picks.

At some point you have to consolidate around your core guys — whether that is 3 guys or 4 or 5....

i think Grizz Co. is looking more towards 2021 for that but if there is “that guy” in this draft maybe we should wheel and deal.

I agree, we already have Ja, Dillon, Winslow, Jaren, Melton and Clarke that are here to stay and part of the big picture. From those, Ja and Jaren are the main guys, if they see Avdija as the 3rd piece of that big 3, we should trade to get him. I like Josh and he might be other young and good prospect for us, but if we have like I said to deal him, Allen and picks to get a more complete prospect I would take that risk.

But lets wait and see the rest of the season and maybe post season, because Josh might be here to stay, and might be part of the long term picture also.

That Jazz pick is not going to convey this year, we will not have a first round pick.

I also think it has some odd protections on it, so it wouldn't be outside the realm of possibility that it conveys into TWO second round picks at some point.

I think it has some convoluted protections to it.

It is likely to convey in 2022 unless something catastrophic happens in Utah. It is protected 1-7 and 15-30 this year and next year, then it is only protected 1-6 in 2022.

That’s what it was.  2022 sounds good.   But I think it ultimately conveys into a couple of second rounders at some point.

I haven’t even looked at that draft yet but it might be a useful asset to package in a trade.

I don't think we have to worry about it getting to that, it would have to be a top 6 pick in 2022, top 3 pick in 2023, and the first overall pick in 2024 for it to turn into 2 second rounders in 2025. I doubt they are that lucky no matter how bad they are by then.

Oh ok.  We have ourselves a scratch off lottery ticket.

Luckily, it looks like we won't have to worry about the draft.  BUT, we still have a pick in the 40's (from Phoenix).

Discussing playoff seeding/playoff races is a lot better than arguing about draft prospects -- especially THIS season.

I will post an updated big board WITH TIERS on the Off Topic Talk section.

I DO NOT have a solid Tier 1 guy.  My highest tier is Tier 1.5/Tier 2 but I have 9 players there.  Overall, I have 49 players grouped into 3 tiers/categories.

An upside to this draft: there seems to be enough lead guards/quarterbacks, centers/bigs/goalies, and wing players/power wings.  Might be a draft to trade either UP or DOWN.

I would consider trading UP to get a player in the Tier 1.5/Tier 2 category, and if that isn't an option then trade DOWN (picks, Euro Stash players, utility players) with the focus on TEAM NEED/FIT/TIME LINE/CULTURE.

I assume Mo Bamba would rank #1 in this class if he were in college still.

Probably.  But he hasn’t improved much in the NBA so if it is a motor and/or frame issue he STILL might not be the top pick.

Looks like a Bamba-Esque draft with Wiseman and Makur Maker being some “upside guys” with bust potential although I think Wiseman will at least be really solid.

Or maybe teams just pass on centers altogether and go after point guards and wings.
