Grizzlies Mike Conley wins Teammate of Year and Sportsmanship Awards

Recommended Posts

Since he hasn't officially been traded yet, Memphis Grizzlies Mike Conley won the teammate of the year and the sportsmanship awards.

JJJ (and other Grizzlies) on Mike Conley

“I just learned that when Mike gives you this face, it’s like a smile,” Jackson also told NBA TV on the red carpet. “I remember one time I got a tech and he gave me this face, it’s like a, ‘C’mon bro.’ He doesn’t have to say anything, but he always does that smile so Utah, watch out for that. He’s going to give Donovan that. If Donovan wilds out, he’s just going to look at him like, ‘Bro.’”

I am officially OLD... and I’m cool with that!

I wish he could have accepted those awards in Memphis as a Grizz. Still glad to see him get recognition.

I'm guessing there will be some ceremony here for him when he returns as a member of the Jazz so that they get to honor him with those awards again.

If you didn't see his farewell letter to the city.  I find it interesting what 2 other names he listed besides Marc, Tony and Zach.

Are you surprised?

I'm a little surprised he mentioned Rudy, but he and Rudy played together for about 5-6 years, but then he mentioned Vince, and he played with a few other guys longer than Vince. (And yeah, to dig up the past again, it probably should have been a Core 5 with Rudy).

He probably played longer with JaM, DA, and OJ Mayo and a few others.

Not a big surprise no mention of OJ.

It would have been funny had he mentioned Iverson.

Actually he played longer with Rudy than any of those.  Rudy 5 1/2, DA 5, OJ 4, JaM 3 1/2.

I'll put this here instead of burying it in the game thread.

If you want to see his response, skip the first 1:48 or so of this video.

Good post, Grizzled Vet.  Mike is a really good ballplayer and a class act.
