It just feels gimmicky to me.  And if i were Becky I'd run from this job.  The coaches here dont have much of a track record even if they are successful.

LH , Joerger, and Fizdale all landed head coaching jobs after their stints with us, so I’d use that as selling point if I was Pera.

I find it a little concerning that we haven't even heard that we've started interviewing anyone yet.

Not hearing what is happening in the Grizzlies front office is standard operating procedure. Add on top of that a lot of new faces that are getting familiar with each other and the lottery coming up which could determine who may or may not be interested and the possibility that the team is wanting someone from a team currently in the playoffs. I wouldn't be too concerned yet.

Yeah, they didn't call ME back either.

they're clearly not visionaries - not ready for the "Jaren-in-the-backcourt" experiment just yet ;)

Sekou-Jaren-Bruno-Luka Samanic-Tacko would be UNBEATABLE.  Not sure for which team, but it would be UNBEATABLE.

Jaren is kind of a weird guy.  He is basically a Shane Battier or a Dennis Rodman on defense but best used as a binge scorer on offense (like Jordan or Durant or a "heat check" Larry Bird).  Probably best guarding bigs/forwards, being a weak side shot blocker, and hedging on guards.

Flip that with Bruno: he should guard perimeter guys, play inside on offense as a rim runner (who can also hit the 3 ball), and looks to be a quicker jumper than Jaren and just as long if not longer so BRUNO might actually be a better rim protector.

For this Rebuild/Reload I would like to FORCE the league into playing like us.  Let's force the issue here.  The Freak Ball Era starts NOW.

The top three guys that are running the Grizzlies are Pera, Wexler, and Kleiman. With their wealth of basketball knowledge they will probably choose...

Actually Tayshaun Prince, the new VP of Basketball Affairs, is running the player evaluations with Chris Makris heavily involved as well. They both have extensive knowledge of basketball. Pera, Wexler and Kleiman are taking their cues from those two. Chu and  Grunwald will be advising Kleiman on salary cap concerns and adding some respect to the Grizzlies front office. Wexler's in charge of the business end and budgeting mostly. Pera will be involved as much as his business allows but will not be running day to day operations.

It is a bit unique in this set up but I feel much better knowing Prince and Makris are in charge of the players and will have a huge impact on the next coach as well.

Supposedly a "development specialist" who helped develop Gobert.

Whichever person they pick for the job, I just really hope there's a vision and a long-term plan. No more short-term fixes.

I’m assuming it’s going to be someone who already has some kind of relationship with Prince.  I doubt it’s Billups though.

Corliss Williamson would be my guess. He’s from Arkansas, won a championship with Prince in 04 and has been an assistant coach for years now.

Or Igor Kokoškov

So in a nutshell, Pera hires Wexler and Kleiman to run the Grizzlies, and they hire people that know something about running a NBA team because they don't.

Brilliant.

Well it is unusual. Hopefully it is also successful.

If we didn't have 2 GM's being tutored by 2 GM wannabes and 2 others dealing with actual B-Ball stuff maybe we could spend more on a coach.

Grizzlies are clearly picking people that they won't have to pay real money to

Or someone on the FO board has an interest in enticing JV to stay next season and beyond

Making future decisions based on a player who might never be an all-star. Sounds like a Grizzlies thing to do

Of course they are, when is the last time the Grizz actually paid a coach a competitive salary?
