The Official Coin Flip thread: What's it gonna be?

Recommended Posts

I'm betting it is an special NBA related coin and not actual currency.

dumb question but when does this coin flip happen?

Not a dumb question at all. I believe it is taking place of Friday.

From the NBA:
In the event that teams finish with the same record, each tied team receives the average of the total number of combinations for the positions that they occupy. In 2007, the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Portland Trail Blazers tied for the sixth worst record. The average of the 6th and 7th positions in the lottery was taken, resulting in each team getting 53 combinations (the average of 63 and 43). Should the average number not be an integer, a coin flip is then used to determine which team or teams receive the extra combination(s). The result of the coin flip is also used to determine who receives the earlier pick in the event that neither of the tied teams wins one of the first three picks via the lottery.

Thanks for the info - should be interesting to be sure.

I can't wait for the OFFICIAL 3 sided-coin of the NBA.

So if we win, we lose. Right?

I don't know. This is a two part process. If the Grizzlies "win" the flip and get the 9th spot but then get drawn into the 4th spot is that a win or a loss? If the Grizzlies get the 7th spot but the team in the 8th or 9th spot moves up and drops the Grizzlies back is that a win or a loss?

The coin flip only matters after the lottery.

3 Teams 1 Coin sounds like a YouTube video.

I'm thinking with three teams it needs to be paper, rock, scissors.

That kid might be the biggest boom/Bust prospect in the country.

I think 8 is gonna be between Culver, Reddish, Little, Kevin Porter Jr, Keldon johnson and Tyle Herro but dang it if Antwann Jones doesn't have as much raw talent (or more) than any of those guys.  Or, a team rolls the dice on a big man at 8.

If Jones transfers into the right situation then he might be a guy to keep an eye on down the road.

Zion or covfefe, baby. Make it so!  Well maybe, that's still the way to go.

Will this determine who actually gets #1 pick?

Not unless the lottery hits on a team in the 7-9 spot.

Which team’ll take which place in a range 7-9 amongst Dallas, Memphis, NOP.

Yes.  The 14 team lottery takes place in about about a month.
