Does anyone know that JV is a real threat from the ark?  I see it. He can shoot threes.

He's basically a less nimble Gasol, but without the drama. Only injuries. lol

Seriously, he can set great picks for Mike to play with. Can also roll or pop for that midrange 2 or set shot 3.

This. I’m actually happy about that

Plus JV will start ahead of Rabb.

JV will look better with us than he did with Toronto. He stepped his game up in the playoffs. I think he is severely under rated

I've been extremely down on Mike. I don't think he deserves an all-star spot like many have thought over the past few years, but I too am happy we kept him. As overrated as I think he is sometimes, it will be very difficult to get someone better simply because other good point guards aren't getting traded, the Grizzlies don't draft well, and no good free agent wants to come here. So I'm happy we stayed put on Mike.

Also...in the past few days, it's felt pretty obvious that Mike wasn't going anywhere.

A healthy Bradley is not bad at all. Very good defender.

JV is a smart player. I'm curious to see him play with Mike and JJJ.

Miles and Wright are bad players.

Dorsey can't play in the NBA.

When did hitting 30% from the arc make someone a real threat?

I wonder how many fans actually looked at his stats before typing something on the board.

Wright from what I hear was the prize, he was a 20th pick in the first round draft, and was getting limited minutes but steadily getting better.

Why is he so bad?

I like Mike a lot as a player and as a person, but I don't really understand why people want to hold onto him.  I am fine with us not making a deal RIGHT NOW, because that urgency isn't there given his age and length of his contract, so we still have the luxury of holding out for a better deal.  However, I hope we do plan on trading him at some point in the not too distant future, because in a couple seasons we time we will find ourselves in another Gasol situation desperately looking to squeeze any remaining measly drops of value out of him... not to mention that he makes our picks worse and takes up a ton of cap in the process.

Watched Raps games last year, and despite lack of touches and set plays, he can make 3s.

Although, he shoots just 1 per game. Just started shooting 3s last season.

I mean, Gasol is shooting 34% this year, not exactly great too.

He looks okay, but again, I fail to see how a 27 year old career backup is supposed to be some sort of rebuilding prize, regardless of where he was drafted four years ago.

No one is claiming Gasol a real threat this season from the arc. When Gasol is on he is great but there haven't been that many times he's been on this year.

I just hope JV doesn't pass on open looks as often as Gasol used to do.

I saw him play many times with the Raptors, I never liked him. Mack level IMO

Hope I'm wrong, OC

He is 26, not 27 and while he will turn 27 soon, it isn't like he is turning 27 November or something. He was old coming into the nba, but that doesn't mean he can't get better real quick, so no he isn't 18, but he is a good young prospect that could improve.

There are no positives the goal was to get assets to build around Jaren all they did was get assets to try to trade in the off-season if Biyombo and MGK were actually coming off the books after next season I would have ate the money for the extra pick. Holding up that deal for Malik Monk is stupid I can bet you Romeo Langford is better than him and we already have the means to get him they could have taken any of Charlotte’s other young players Bacon or Graham and been in a better spot than this.

Jonas is good true but there is no reason for us to be good being as bad as possible is how you get the young talent that you CLEARLY can’t get any other way.. They can’t sign good young players and they can’t trade for good young players so draft pics should be the most coveted asset for this team. And they did the complete opposite and got a bunch of contracts that will fall off the books after next year and allow them to have lots of cap space to inevitably sign a bunch of garbage like they always do..... this deadline is an F

You’re too much of a super fan there is nothing to discuss in regards to this trade deadline just wait till the summer and see what they do this just looks like them trying to buy time till the summer and for whatever reason conveying that stupid pick which makes no sense

What Monk trade? There are no confirmed reports of that trade. Heck many reports mentioned the first round pick is heavily protected. So we would be stuck with unproductive players in Byombo and MKG on bad contracts and a pick that may not be in play for several years.

Marc + JaM + Mac

Jonas V is an actual good player i just hopes he remains a bench big.

Jaren with JV would work at times although Jaren/Rabb looks like a modern big man duo. Maybe we should even have Jaren/Bruno inside in some rotations.

this was 4 months ago: I didn't write it, somebody else did. All I did was ask the question. If this stat is right it is clearly the reason the grizzlies valued him maybe even over OG Anunoby and especially over Shelvin Mack, who was undersized and could not guard his position.

The Raptors enjoy depth at the point guard position. Jockeying for second spot on the depth chart is Delon Wright, who gets big props for his prowess in a seldom-considered stat.

I spend more time than I should fussing about meaningful NBA statistics versus who-cares? ones. Which stats co-relate to playing winning basketball? There are lots, including one I’d never thought about (blush) until I stumbled upon it: steals-per-foul.

I found the listing at the Team Rankings site to be of considerable interest for many reasons, one of them being the impressive placing of our own Delon Wright. The improving point guard sits fourth with a .956 ratio, an excellent number which solidifies his important role as a long defensive specialist. Delon is just behind Kyle Anderson, formerly a Spur and now a Memphis Grizzly and Shabazz Napier, who departed Portland this summer to sign as a free agent with Brooklyn. You can be sure the agents of both Anderson and Napier talked up this stat as another reason for their players to get fat raises when they switched teams.

The pick made sense: we had a legit shot to win the title that year and with green the grizzlies enjoyed the best offense to defensive ratio that we had during any season of our 7 year run.

The stupid move was trading Rudy to begin with only to realize that Hollins was right, when the spurs exploited our lack of offensive players, in tay and tony, thus spurring wallace to have to make the trade in the first place.
