#9 pick in draft watch - how many wins do you think it will take

When are the coin flips? And I find it humorous that a billion dollar enterprise would solve something like this by flipping a coin?

I think its random drawing now. In the past its been the Friday after season end.

My prediction is we get the middle spot at #8 and the suspense is dragged out for another month.

No. It will be the worst case scenario because that's how lotteries and coin flips go with the Grizzlies.

They will be at 7, which offers no benefit in terms of the lottery, and either the Pelicans or Dallas will jump them in the lottery (They'll get the lucky spot), pushing the Grizzlies to the #8 spot in draft.

I'm a little confused on what aspect of the coin flips. Will the outcome of the flips alter the odds of getting a top 4 pick? Or is it just the same odds but teams are ranked to determine who gets what balls?

The outcome of the flips does not impact lottery odds at all as they are all the same.

Only impact who is slotted 7 8 9 for the draft (pre lottery).

I've been trying to think of how this is actually done.

Do they flip a single coin twice and say?

If it ends up Heads/Heads it goes to Mavs

If it goes Heads/Tails it goes to Pelicans

If it goes Tails/Heads it goes to Grizzlies

If it goes Tails/Tails it is a redo?

So many blown leads...just one more game makes a huge difference.

Im seeing the words "random drawing" attached to this since the lottery reform so I think thats it.

Basketball reference has the Grizzlies listed at 12th in the West (9th worst in the league) followed by N.O. at 13, and Dallas at 14th.

Yeah. So New Orleans is involved too. We could be here all night.

Do the Mavs tank the coin flip?  The pick is only top 5 protected.  Give the Hawks the 9th pick.  Shouldn't the Hawks flip the coin?

There will be no coin flip for the Grizzlies. Our coin is injured.

So you are wanting to be awful and tank next year?

Not at all. I want a pick next year. Guaranteed to happen if we convey this year.

Huh? If you are planning to be good next year that puts our pick around 14-20. Why not take a top 8 pick this year then play to win from now on?

How in the world would we be good next year?

Thank you. The "tank" wont be intentional. We can piece together a roster to be a little better than horrible but they still wont be anywhere near a playoff team especially no.Conley.
