USA Soccer Embarrasses Themselves

Recommended Posts

The USA lost to Trinidad & Tobago and will now miss the World Cup for the first time since 1986.

We can blame Jurgen Klinsmen for his poor handling of the team leading up to and beginning the qualifying. We can blame the coaches who clearly weren't prepared for T&T in a game where all they needed was a tie to advance to Russia. Ultimately it was the fault of the players on the pitch. Omar Gonzalez was horrible last night with an own goal, a penalty in the box (although a kick that wasn't awarded) and numerous breakdowns on defense and poor passing. Christian Pulisic scored but overall was clearly not 100% and not the difference maker the team needed in midfield. Tim Howard let a 35 yard out strike score, nearly gave up another from about 30 yards and was not sharp the entire game. No pressure from the midfield either on defense or offense. Just a poor effort from the team from top to bottom.

This was probably the last time we will get to see Clint Dempsey and Tim Howard play for the USA. Such a sad way to say goodbye to these players.
