  1. Well, if they'd make me a mod around here like I've volunteered for in the past, I would definitely clean up the crap when it's posted.
  2. I don't think every single new thread needs to be reviewed, just make it so members can't start new topics until they have 100 posts. 90% of the pointless topics started around here are by rookie posters who have no idea about responsible thread starting.
  3. It's about time for us veteran posters to start demanding a 100 post rule on this site. This is getting beyond ridiculous.

    Record Comparison

I know that this team definitely has some issues, but we really do need to keep things in perspective. This season is the earliest we have ever hit 20 wins. It's the first week of Jan., fellas. A couple years ago, 20 wins was our TOTAL for the entire year. Maybe we're not 'elite' and we may not win the Championship this year, but we still have have a pretty dang good team and I think it's important for us to consider the alternative in order to fully appreciate what we have. GO GRIZZ!!!

    what a call (back again)

I've watched plenty of non-Grizzlies games on TV that Bavetta has worked and he's terrible every time.

It really is amazing how far ahead of our previous seasons we are right now. At this pace, we're averaging over 60 wins! I really hope we can keep it up until April (and beyond).

    Record Comparison

Off to our best start since 2005! Honestly though, I think we look really good. We REALLY looked solid against MIL tonight. All the starters played well, the bench produced, and we cruised to an easy W. I know it's early, but based on what I'm seeing so far, I think we're in for a pretty darn good season, folks!

    what a call (back again)

I know they consider the officials to be part of the floor, but by actually grabbing the ball, the ref interfered with the play which I'm certain has to be against the rules. Plus, they drained about 5 seconds off the game clock and the shot clock didn't move at all. The ref should have been fined/reprimanded by the league, IMO.

Maybe I'm wrong, but wasn't it one of us that coined the term "Flop City"?

That is true, Wells, BUT that was only one particular instance. In general, the Tigers are able to consistently draw larger crowds than the Grizzlies. Besides, that game against GS was one of our highest attendance numbers of the season thus far.

    Record Comparison

I definitely get what you're saying, but I'm just not sure the economy can be used as a legitimate excuse for the poor attendance numbers. I know we are one of the smaller markets, but still, many of the teams in our position (Portland, Utah, OKC, heck even Minnesota) have been able to consistently draw respectable crowds. Besides, even with the recession's shadow still looming, 18,000 people isn't a huge amount for a city of Memphis' size. I think the Tigers' ability to bring in people (while significantly underachieving) is proof that Memphis can and will support a basketball team. But for some reason, our NBA just isn't appreciated for the most part.

Well both really. The tone on the board has seemed exceptionally negative this year for some reason. This thread, for example, has received virtually no attention, while other "complaint" threads seem to get page after page of replies. And the game attendance has been very mediocre thus far. Coming off our Playoff success last year, I thought this was going to be the season Memphis would finally come out and support its NBA team. Yet it's still been a struggle to even get a decent crowd out to non-marquee games. Our last game, for example, had an announced attendance for 14,000. Considering our record, and the fact that it was the last game for over a week, I thought there would be at least 16-17K in the house. I hate to say it, but I just really don't think Memphis is an NBA city. Unless it's a Playoff game or a game against a high-profile opponent, we can never sell out the Forum. It's sad but true.

I've definitely noticed and I'm thrilled! Under normal circumstances, I would consider 19-15 to be a very good record at this point. But factoring that we are playing in a condensed schedule with virtually no down time, and recalling that we've been without out best player for basically the entire season, I would say 4 games above .500 is AMAZING right now. I'm still baffled as to why the overall attitude towards the team had been negative thus far. It seems as though a good portion of Grizz fans were expecting us to come out and be the best team in the league or something. At this point, I would almost be shocked if the Grizzlies missed the Playoffs.

    what a call (back again)

There were at least 2 or 3 instances where Perkins should have been issued his second technical and ejected. The incident with Gasol was the most obvious. Perkins is probably the biggest punk in the league and the refs let him get away with his crap most of the time. Its sickening. And I completely agree about DA. NO WAY ON EARTH is that a technical foul in the NBA Playoffs. And it seemed as though they were specifically looking for something to call to wave off that 3 by Shane. We definitely didn't play that well, and OKC was on fire, but the refs wanted to make certain the Thunder got the win.

    what a call (back again)

Well, you gotta give the refs props for effort. They tried to give OKC the win up until the very end.

    what a call (back again)

I think its fairly obvious now that we're going to be fighting our opponent(s) along with the officials for the remainder of our Playoff run. They just don't want to give us a break. Even though today's game wasn't quite as bad as some of the San Antonio games, you could still tell the refs were somewhat favoring OKC. We just need to keep fighting through it. On a side note, I think this is the first time I've ever seen Joey Crawford officiate a game in which he didn't issue a technical foul to someone.

    what a call (back again)

I don't think you can blame tonight's loss on the refs, but still, 5 technicals seemed excessive if you ask me. Zbo gets pushed by Boozer, and gets slapped with a T, Tony apparently does nothing and gets a T, and Shane gets a T for committing a loose ball foul. I can't understand how the league allows Joey Crawford to continue officiating. He is the most power hungry referee I've ever seen in any professional sport. The dude literally ejects players for personal fouls sometimes.

Wow. There was a little scuffle at the end of the Lakers/Clippers game just now and 4 players were ejected (Griffin, Davis, Odom, and Artest). Even more shocking, the Clippers won!
