Also glad to see Romeo Weems back, as he was solid in summer league last year. I hope EJ Onu goes off and gets our second two way spot. Noticeably absent from that list is Tyrell Terry. I'm thinking that means he's gone.
Yeah, that is strange. Aluma spent 5 years in college due to sitting out a year after transferring from Wofford to VaTech.

I mean sure, if averaging 2.7 ppg on 18.8% shooting in a total of 3 games during their post season run is helping, then I guess you’re correct. I’d define it more that the Bucks won a championship despite DiVincenzo’s attempted help.
-
Good lord. I never imagined I’d see so many hardons for Dante DiVincenzo. A guard that shot 35% from 2. We don’t need that. He’s not going to help anyone win a championship.

Counting on him to do WHAT? Pick up the guys towels in the bathroom?
Don’t sleep on Agua Mane!

Stay the course. Keep with what we’re building. We don’t need no savior coming in to help us. Kyrie, KD, and Harden were supposed to make the Nets invincible. Nothing further from the truth.

And, a year later, check Bball reference. Adams hit exactly zero 3's last season, lol. https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/a/adamsst01.html
And for the first time this summer. NBA summer YouTubes mean absolutely nothing.
I think the only shot he took all season beyond 5 ft was a 3/4 court shot at the buzzer to end a quarter.

Not necessarily. We would have to waive one player besides Green.

Relax. Remember when Santi had that under the rim dunk? He probably had a few rebounds and a block or two also. We’re good!

Hey, remember that time we were playing the Nets, and we were killing them? Then they bench KD & Harden and put in their scrubs. The scrubs came back on us and made it a close game.
Thars all, just seeing if anyone remembers.

I can't think of any of the top of my head and the agents job is to get as much as possible for as long as possible. I have heard of 1 year deals but can't think of too many that have signed a 2 year deal? Why would Tyus do that? His agent might as well find a s&t opportunity. Teams want him, they just don't have the money. I'm sure they would go for a s&t that is 4 years over a 2 year deal with the Grizz. If they do a short term contract, might as well do 1.
A 2 year contract is almost entirely in favor of the Grizz and gives the player no stability unless they overpay for say $15 mil per or something.
We signed Tillie to a 2-year deal last season. A little bit different as he was a two-way guy, so you jump at a chance to get two years guaranteed and a salary bump.
32 minutes ago, The J Crew said:I would be shocked Kyle is near the vet minimum.
Kyle is a plus defender who can guard multiple positions - 106 Drtg and 2.1 DBPM. Excellent rebounder. Good ballhandler who can iniitiate your offense. Good passer.
2 years/$12M-$14M? Maybe 3/$20M? Bet the team who signs him won't be disappointed. Cavs, Utah, Indiana all run offenses that would fit Kyle.
That hitch in his shot will turn a lot of teams off. It got a lot worse from 20/21 to 21/22. I agree he still has value, but when looking at FA's, teams can focus too much on the negatives.

He looks like a really smart player. Has confidence and knows how to use/position his body, and outmaneuver his defenders.

3 minutes ago, The J Crew said:I'm repeating, but I think it's the years on the contract, not the starting salary, that are being negotiated. Tyus and his team probably want 4 years, we are probably more comfortable with 2.
Could be. Just doesn't seem like it'd be an issue to trade him if we only wanted him for 2 years.

1 minute ago, The J Crew said:True, but not the point. We all know Bamba wasn't going to be back with Orlando.
But why not extend the QO and get something back for him? Just bad asset management.
Jeff Weltman is kind of a weird dude. He was bragging after drafting Paolo about keeping this big secret. He had the #1 pick, what was the benefit of keeping it secret? NFL teams announce days in advance who they are taking with the #1 pick.
I don't know all the ins and outs of free agency. How would extending a QO allow them to get something back? Are you speaking of a sign & trade deal if he accepted the QO from Orlando?
I guess Weltman just wanted to screw a lot of people over on their bets to who would be picked first.

5 minutes ago, The J Crew said:Boston and Dallas are both taxpayers. Doubt Tyus signs for $6.4M. So unless Tyus agrees to a sign-and-trade, and the Grizz FO agrees too, Tyus isn't going there.
Not sure about Minny, haven't looked it up.
It doesn't look like were going to be outbid to keep Tyus, so I think we re-sign him unless there's someone else that we can sign that will be an upgrade over him. It won't be a true PG, so that will depend on if we want to go with not running with a true PG when Ja is out. We did do that some last season with Kyle, Bane, and Melton bringing the ball up when neither Ja or Tyus were on the court. Two of those will be gone, but honestly, Melton was terrible at it.

13 minutes ago, ALT GRIND said:Didn't he make an All NBA team? So isn't he ALREADY eligible for the Supermax? Does he need a REPEAT All NBA performance?
He did make All NBA 2nd team, but it doesn't count this year, he would have to make it again next year to qualify for Supermax.
7 minutes ago, The J Crew said:A little harsh. Averaged 11 & 8 and almost 2 blocks last year. Shot 56% from 2 and 38% from 3 on good volume - 4 attempts per game. https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/b/bambamo01.html
My bigger point was Orlando's management of the asset. They apparently were so skeptical that they couldn't get an asset back in a sign-and-trade that they didn't want potentially to be stuck with Bamba at $10.1M for one year. Which seems like bad roster management to me.
His QO is just below the taxpayer MLE.
Magic currently have 8 guys that are 6'10" or taller. Added Banchero in the draft, plus Jonathan Isaac should be back. They don't have room for all of them. They also have Bol Bol, so who knows what will happen with that guy.

14 hours ago, Ole Dirty Klondike said:Well, looks like another change in Green contract. Guarantee date extended to Jan 10th
Makes sense. Benefits both parties. FO probably just said if you don't agree to this, we are just going to waive you, as there's not enough time to work out a potential trade. This gives the FO more time for a possible trade to where he could get the other $3 million guaranteed.

I actually saw him play high school basketball when he was more known for football. It seemed like a bit of a shock when he signed for college basketball instead. The people in Franklin acted like football was his future...
His tweeker eyes is just a running joke in game threads when he plays against us. He just has those eyes, nobody actually claims he does drugs. Also, going to a religious school doesn't preclude someone from being a druggie. Didn't know he was a big football player in HS too.

3 hours ago, Ole Dirty Klondike said:You can always trade players. I don't buy into this, don't give them an option or give them a 2 year deal. Most players aren't signing 2 year deals. That puts a lot of the risk on them. Players are traded all of the time, good contracts, bad contracts, players get traded. Tyus is a useful player would easily be traded.
As far as maxing out Bane, if we do that, we might as well hang it up. Not every player who starts and scores over 15 ppg needs to be a max player. I think we will start to see more and more situations like Westbrook and John Wall happening in this league as they keep giving these players these humongous contracts. At some point, more and more teams will look like the Lakers who have $128 million wrapped up in 3 players. Those 3 players alone put them over the cap.I don't want to be in a situation like that, especially with a small market team. If Bane avg 25 ppg this season and expands both his offensive and defensive game, sure, let's consider near max, but not max. If he balks and demands a max, trade him. Ja is the only max player on this roster right now.
I agree. There's always a trade available. Some team will be happy to take him. Players will get hurt and someone will need him. At worst, we should be able to get a late 1st round and some bum on an expiring contract for him in a couple years.
Also agree on Bane. At most, a deal like Jaren's. Not a max deal like for Ja. Most of these contracts are paying players for what they've already done, and not what they're going to do in the future. Honestly, guys like Lebron, AD, Kyrie, Harden, Simmons, and Westbrook aren't worth $35-$47 million a year.

32 minutes ago, fanboyslim said:I feel bad for Tyus but it's not like we didn't predict this. His available options were very few to begin with. And that has nothing to do with what he deserves. He just hit free agency on a bad year.
If I was his agent I would try to strike a two-year deal (maybe with a player option) with the Grizzlies for slightly more than the MLE.
I don't feel bad for him at all. He will be making $10+ million a year to play a game. I'd trade with him in a minute if I could.

There’s not an open roster spot. Williams didn’t have a spot on the roster:
Ja, Bane, Dillon, JJJ, Adams, Tyus, Ziaire, Konchar, BC, Tillman, Santi, Tillman, LaRavia, Roddy, Chandler. That’s 15. Then there’s Green. So we still have to get rid of one person which is assumed to be Green. If there’s a FA out there we really want to sign, we will have to get rid of one additional player. Speaking of our two-ways, there’s probably never been as much excitement to see what they can do.
