we won 3rd, 29-27, could have been even better. OK, as I said, we will finish them off with 41-23 last quarter.

14-22 from the distance fr the Kings, I guess kings players really missed the game during the break.

No worries, we will get them in the second half, 70-50. It's coming, baby
  6. Tough luck fr the Blazers, Lillard with bad groin. I guess we can count them out, groin in juries are nasty ones, had myself. I was never the same again Oh well, that's why it's good to have a young team. Guys heal quick, sky is the limit and etc... https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/28744688/trail-blazers-damian-lillard-expects-miss-3-4-games

I think we will have a good, nice with quality W. JA will show dunks that he had ready, but NBA decided that the rest of humanity was not. So, yep, HIGHLIGHTS!!!!! We are Grizzlies, not some Pelicans, or Hornets or some dancing fairies. Grizzlies and JV. Flying JA, cool JJJ and the rest. Divac will need to down a bottle of whatever Serbian guys drink after today's game. Running a team is not so simple as being tall and ugly

7 PM my time, turned on the stream - and nothing ........ Silly me, game is on the West coast, in Sacramento OK, I'll wait a bit longer. Yesterday was browsing along all the stats on NBA and etc, and saw that we are 14-5 in our last 19. We have tough schedule, with only 12 home games, but we will take around 10 out of 12, so yep, PLAYOFFS BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 26.5 looks silly now, ain't it?

    Who thinks we beat Sacramento

More than 95% from me for our W. We are new, young team, VERY TALENTED. I ,,,, Oooops, I'm sure that a break in the seas did us some good. team doesn't have lingering, unsolvable problems, but like everything else in life, it takes time to get ripe. So, yep, our "vets" took care of their bodies and little aches, young guys had some time to think, what the bleep is happening to them, coach too will get back to work with fresh eyes. I hope......

Good win, necessary. Only one way to keep the distance between us and Blazers is to keep winning ourselves. Who knows what Lillard will do any given night.

    Next 8 games

I think we should take a little different look. All-Star weekend is coming, splitting before mention stretch of games into two:before and after All-Star break. Right now we are fighting to stay at #8 spot. Our direct threat are Blazers. Let's look at their games before break: Grizzlies: 02/07 @ PHI 02/09 @ WAS 02-12 vs POR Blazers: Today, 02/06 vs SAS Next day, 02/07 @ UTA 02/09 vs MIA 02/11 @ NOP Next day, 02/12 @POR. Let's look at our games first. Tomorrow in Philly against Sixers. Theoretically - we are huge underdogs. But look at how both teams performed lately. Sixers are 8-10 in their last 18 games. 6 wins were at home where their record is 22-2 for the season. They beat Warriors, Lakers, Bulls, Nets, Celtics and Thunder. Embiid is their super mega star, but he doesn't do so well against big, physical bigs. Embiid doesn't mind playing in the paint, but before mentioned Cs cause him troubles. In 120-113 win against Thunder, Embiid was 18/9 0 blocks, Adam Stevens had 24/15 (9 offensive rebounds!) and 2 blocks. Embiid always had problems with JV while JV played for Toronto. Only refs whistle helped him a little bit. So, Sixers are 8-10 in their last 18, we are 13-3 in our last 16. Grizzles lost twice to Pelicans and once on the road to Celtics. Home lost to Pels was painful. Pels were 21/48 from the distance, we - 9/33. Road lost to Celtics was historical. Grizzlies had a 42-35 lead and when the disaster struck. Celtics went on a 23-2 scoring run, finally outscoring us 66-21, taking a 101-63 "lead" and winning the game 119-95. Road loss to Pels was even uglier. Pels led 110-86 after three quarters, winning the game 139-111. Today Sixers play in Milwaukee against league's best Bucks. Last time they played it was in Philly. Sixers destroyed Bucks, leading 100-73 after three and winning 121-109. Giannis Antetokounmpo had his worst game of the season. 8/27 from the floor, missed all 7 three pointers and had +/- of -19. I bet today Greek Freak will want some payback. Interesting, the weather in Milwaukee is nasty - snowing non stop. Sixers could have problems to get back home. We must start the game with maximum intensity and maybe get away with the W from Philly. Hard to do, but timing is favoring us very much. Our next game against Wizards. We are a better team, a better team should win. I hope Our final game before the break is at home against our main rival Blazers. Here the NBA schedule does us a big favor too.Let's look what Blazers have before they play us. Blazers will play 4 games. Today at home against Spurs (anything can happen), tomorrow in Utah against Jazz. Jazz are riding 5 games losing streak, but they have second best home record in the West 18-5 (Clippers are 22-5). It's very likely that Jazz will end their losing streak tomorrow. Blazers play on February 9th against very dangerous and much improved Heat. Two days later against Zion in New Orleans, next day after Pelicans game - they play us. To summarize - we must increase our separation from Blazers before the break cause we lucked in into good schedule. 4 games after the break on the road against 4 good West teams? We better win at least once...

    TRADE DEADLINE

Thanks 💕. I think that most "player fans" in time become team fans too. Myself I like when team plays the "right" way, with pride and competitiveness. I like when some new developments happen. And it's not just in team sport, individual too. New ways to play, to train. The use the latest scientific breakthroughs and so on. Maybe initially some new members who joined this board just to see how JV will perform were a little bit over zealous. JV came to Toronto as a highly acclaimed prospect. But things didn't work out well for him. Still, he was very important piece of Toronto's rise from the worst team to NBA champs. If NBA rules were different, we can easily imagine JV as a monster C, leading his team. In NBA 2020 JV has to accept his role and do the best to help team. Grit&Grind Grizzlies teams were tough and good. Now a new era began. Personally, I'm impressed with JJJ. It's just his second year, but he already is a player. Ja is still a rookie. Flashy, cocky, super athletic, confident. But it takes time (couple seasons for a guy like Morant) to learn how to run and lead the team. Future for the Grizz is very promising. Just FO has to stay on the right path, assemble a right, fitting pieces and produce (wins ).

What is this? In 20 minutes Melton has +37, while himself scoring just 7 points. Jenkins came up with some magical line-ups, good boy

I understood you just fine. Just some posters here feel like Lithuanian nationals are trespassing on their domain. But I think that like 95% members here are cool. We can give different opinion, provide different angle and have some insight in the international bball. Myself, I was surprised that he got picked in the second round. If he went to play for couple years in NCAA, his exposure would be different, helping him rise in the draft position. He can play and I hope that he will not waste this chance.

Serbian and Croatian basketball players had certain style of play. They were excellent players, but didn't mind to get involved in some extra activities. European specifics. Lithuania is much far north, we are not very hot headed. We are raised to control ourselves. Until we had enough. Final game and Sabonis got ejected because before that moment "Cibona" players tried very hard to get under our skin: But those there 80's and 90's. Clubs didn't have legionnaires, only local talent. No internet - those days if you cross a border, you would find yourself in a different world. Different religion, language, political system, strange food and etc.. I'm very happy that after many thousands of years of non stop wars all over the Europe, European Union came to existence. Different nationalities get along nicely, many businesses have international staff from all over the world and everybody gets along just fine. Good times. I wonder, how long they will last. Great Britain made huge mistake with the Brexit. Just because old farts wanted to live like in good old times. Great Britain will be fine, but in my pinion, if they stayed in EU - their development and progress would be on a faster track. They made their bed.

Long story. And not the only one. No need to re-analyze it. I don't like Morey, I don't like one trick pony Harden - he is making a mockery of the game. But I like D'Antoni. Maybe not lately, but his Suns with Nash was soooo fun I think that mindset in Houston is simply. Harden plus Russ are power, they just try to find right pieces around them.

    Memphis Grizzlies @ Dallas Mavericks - 2/5/20

Watched the game. Pacers shot extremely poorly, Warren was out, Dipo played terribly. Only one thing that stood up for Mavs - they rebounded very well .I think JV will have something to say about it. We need a W. Blazers and Spurs slipped yesterday, we have to take advantage of that.

    TRADE DEADLINE

Two good teams in the West, potential contenders, reshuffled their roster drastically. I like what Rockets do. Though I HATE their GM Morey. There are not many people that I despise, Morey is one of them. Slimy backstabbing SOB. It could be Tristan Thompson, but I have a feeling they are going for someone better. Anyway, bleep Morey. We should care less about for others do. We have Iggy situation and a game today against the Mavs which we must win.

I know that you are tired of Lithuanians here, but sometimes we can provide useful "inside" information. Hartenstein went through Kauno "Žalgiris" youth development program. I liked the kid. Good size, can do everything that a C should do. I have no idea how he looks now, but maybe with some floor time he could be OK in Houston. I'm not willing to call him a bust yet, guy is just 21 years old.
  20. I know, some of you are tired of "players fans. I'm a basketball fan first. For me it's all about playing right way, no dirty stuff, entertaining, nice style. It applies both to players and teams. My friend send me a link with Tony G, a Lithuanian poker player. Since I'm in a good mood after yesterday's win, I spent sometime time on YouTube, reminiscing of old times. To set a mood - let's start with Tony G. After - some compilations of JV's plays. Other posters are welcomed here to share some videos, interviews and other stuff related to JV. P.S. I'm just happy that JV didn't get lost in new Memphis system. And over all I can see that big guys are making come back. Shooting threes is very efficient, but not everybody can do it, and teams are learning how to defend better. That's why we see 3 pointers taken from WAYYYYY beyond the line. OK, here we go: Young days: JV in a different jersey:
  21. OK, let's look at it. Pels got their 31th loss today and they have a pretty bad coach. I like Blazers too, just because they have Lillard. Blazers lost their 28th game to the Nuggets. Never had a chance, complete annihilation. Lilard cooled down for a while. Spurs are done. Their coach is old, their players are old and their roster is bad. They too got their 28th loss, destroyed by the Lakers. Never had a chance. So, you expect Pels to finish slightly below .500? To win 37-40 games? In that case they need to win finish at least 17-14. Good luck, but not happening this season. Their home record is 10-16, road record is 10-15. Blazers with wins between 41-43? To achieve that they have to finish at least 18-13. That definitely could happen. Blazers have 10 road wins and 11 home losses. Blazers played 3 more games on the road than at home. Their remaining schedule is weak, I would be surprised if they don't finish above .500 Spurs with 36-37 wins? Seems about right. Even a major trade won't help them to the post-season. Where does it leaves Grizzlies? We are 25-25, but played 6 more games at home. Remaining schedule is very tough. Good thing is that Grizz play better as season progress and are healthy. Our direct competitor are Blazers. We play them twice, first at home, later on the road. Grizzlies need to maintain slight lead over the Blazers till the end and not lose to them twice when we will play them. Manageable, possible - let's go to work!
  22. Not granted. There are some sleepers. If their teams will succeed beyond expectations in the post-season, well...
  23. People are allowed to dream a little bit Top 4 in about 3years? How about home field advantage in the post-season next year? I like to joke around, but I have one argument for Grizzlies progressing quicker. Team is like family. Sure, sometimes players don't get along, but most of the time they truly care for each other. Players, coaches spend so much time together. Starting in October til the middle of April they work, eat, travel, celebrate birthdays and do all other stuff. Not just like co-workers, but like good friends. And if chemistry on a team is healthy - that definitely results in couple more wins. From all I've seen during interviews, body language, togetherness on the court (during melee in New York JV stood in the middle of the scuffle, with an angry look in his eyes) - I think that these Grizzlies are just good, modest, very talented and caring guys. Now comes my point. JV is 28. In his first year of the contract with the Grizz. When current three years contract will expire, JV will be 30. He will have just one more long term contract left (depending of how league will develop). Right now he is good shape. After last game's victory over the Pistons, during the post game interview JV jokingly said: "I'm working on my hops cause guys are throwing lobs to me". JV was very athletic before his physical development was derailed by the Raptors. Maybe this off-season he will try hard to get in better shape? Last couple seasons in Toronto, when Raptors players were asked "Who is most vocal in the huddle?", to my surprise their answer was JV. JV signed a pretty team friendly contract with the Grizz. He gives it all every game. I think that could be an X factor for the Grizz quicker progress. When young guys see a dude, biggest and strongest on a team, everyday giving it all and not hiding his emotions (JV yells after good play, or gets mad at himself for making a mistake) - the young guns are more encouraged. There is no need for them to be shy - they made to the NBA, that means that they are good. And Ja and JJJ are really very good. JV's clock is ticking. I expect him next two season to play the hardest he ever did (Casey, a joke as a coach, made JV a utility player with limited time on the court). NBA talk around the league already began to circulate that Grizzlies are fun and good. Highest assists number at 27.6 per game team in the NBA. If Grizzlies will make to the post-season this year and give Lakers all they can handle (while AD was a Pelican and JV was a Raptor and both were suited for the game - AD never won against Raptors with JV) - NBA will want to see more of Grizz. Ja will be an All-Star next year. JJJ could make it too. Ja will win this year's dunk contest. Some roster adjustments. Iguodala's stalemate resolved, and... WE COULD BE REALLY GOOD already next year.
  24. My bad The logos of us and Wolves look a little bit alike in small format. Anyhow. Luke is like half of Mavs team. If he is still out (or back, but a little rusty) we have a good chance. Regarding Luka, I checked his three point and free point shooting. He has been struggling for almost a month, threes in the midle of 20%, free throws around 60%. I just wonder, if trying to push his Mavs almost by himself has taken a toll on his body. With the A game they will make post-season for sure. With the A+ game, Grizzles will get higher than 8 spot
