    Should We Re-SIgn D Brooks?

D Brooks is showing some nice improvement this year, playing under control and is positively contributing to the team. His contract is up at the end of this year. He's only making $1.6 mil this year. What are people's thoughts on DB's future with the Grizz? While making some nice contributions, his PER is still below average. I'm just wondering if we use the MLE dollar amount as the baseline and assume it will be around $9.5 million per season, what should we do with Dillon and how should we use him going forward.

Well, this wasn't the time to lay a turd but we all have to go sometime.

New Orleans Pelicans vs Memphis Grizzlies 1/20/20

They picked the wrong game to be so sluggish, lethargic and out of it. I really think they need to hit the road to break the sluggishness. They're looking like a bunch of uhhhh slugs

Dumb foul by JJJ. He needs to learn how to let some things go.

Horrible 1st half. No energy, sluggish, the crowd isn't into it and the Pelicans are hitting everything they throw up.

Pels have a lot of confidence. Hopefully the shots stop falling in the 2H

They look really sluggish. Time to get back on the road. Way too comfortable sitting at home.

Ranking The Best Players In The NBA By Category

Maybe but Mike is also 32, has battled numerous injuries and has been in the league what, 13 years or something? It may be wear and tear and high mileage as well. He may not have the consistent speed to get into the lane anymore. He may also be trying to avoid injury but with all of that being said, I think it's a bad fit.

ESPN Love? No, Zion will win ROY

Well, there's been 7 people to do it since 1990.All of those were unique situations. I have a hard time seeing Ja getting in especially since Luka didn't get in last year and he had better overall stats. If Ja does get in, it would be a miracle but a miracle that I wouldn't complain about. The voting for starters is 50% fans, 25% media and 25% players and then the coaches select the reserves. I don't see coaches putting him in over established stars who may be nearing the end like say a Chris Paul. Their stats are kind of similar but I would assume coaches would give Paul one more to add to his legacy rather than giving it to a rookie who has 15 years ahead of him. it's not right but I figure coaches would do that.

    Should We Re-SIgn D Brooks?

Yes, he shoots 44% from 3 but at 6 ppg the most he could make is 2 3 pointers a game. He's avg about 1.3 made 3's per game which is decent but let's be honest, it accounts for about 4 pts for a guy only avg 6 ppg. That 44% sounds nice but it's low volume. He attempts less than three 3's a game. I don't dispute he's a good defender but I am just comparing his contract to where Dillon's value would be and I think most in the league would value Dillon much higher than O'neale (probably higher than most on this board to be honest and that includes myself)

    Should We Re-SIgn D Brooks?

I agree. If he's valued just slightly below the MLE (which is about $9.25 for this year so next year probably between $9.5-$9.7 mi depending on revenues), Dillon the Villain is easily $12 mil, if not closer to $14 mil or whatever his max would be. If his max is in that range, it may make sense to go ahead and lock him up.

Grizz Acquire Iguodala, 1st Round Pick from GS

I really don't think they are expecting a first round pick. I think it was a ploy to jack up the price. I don't think it's working. We're less than 3 weeks away from the deadline. The offers may increase but the Grizz will take what they can get and I doubt that 1st rounder will be included. As I have said all along, GS GAVE us a 1st to get rid of him. Why would another team give us a 1st to take him off of our hands? We'll get what we can. I just hope it's not a return of long term salary for some mediocre player. I would rather just sit on Iggy until the end of the season and let his contract expires as oppose to doing a bad deal. We already have a 1sr round pick because of him.. Iggy's game has been in decline for years. If you were the Grizz GM looking to acquire Iggy from another team, would you give up a 1st and an asset that contributes? More than likely not..I know I wouldn't.

ESPN Love? No, Zion will win ROY

Yes, I realize that but it's different times. I'm just saying I would not be surprised if he wins by only playing 35 games. Agreed, but Ja might get hosed if ESPN gets it's way. Ja deserves it hands down but now I see them hyping Zion. I don't think Zion will play 30 games honestly. I'm not sure why they are bringing him back this year. He should have stayed out until next season. i'm not wishing anything bad on him but i think he will be hurt again before the season ends.

    Grizzlies/NBA Free Agency Thread

The Portland deal was purely financial. They have the highest payroll in the league and were well into the luxury tax. The Iiggy deal would have not given them the financial savings they were looking for:

ESPN Love? No, Zion will win ROY

They've already chosen to hype Zion over Ja this season and that's my point. The decision has already been made and that's why they have so many national tv games and we've got a couple. Sure next season they may hype both but the Zion hype train for ESPN started before he left Duke (even while he was hurt), it lasted through the NBA Draft, summer league, pre-season and now the NBA season. only the past couple of weeks have they really been pushing Ja. They have already made as significant investment in time in pumping Zion. That's my point, if he comes back and plays 35 games and plays well, at worst he's co-ROY. That's how ESPN works. They do the same type of stuff in college football and basketball where they create hype to predetermine an outcome. It's similar to the pressure of the #1 pick, even if people thought Ja was the better player overall and would have the better career or they thought Zion was injury prone, Zion had been hyped so much, whoever got the #1 pick had to pick Zion.

    Solomon Hill

and you do realize he had a +25 in the previous game against HOU right? +/- is a horribly misleading stat. The team won. i'll take the win. it's on to the next one for me. No need to dwell on couldda wouldda shouldda's in a win.

ESPN Love? No, Zion will win ROY

I don't think wins has anything to do with. I am predicting if Zion plays 35 games, he will be awarded ROY, at worst co-ROY. He's been hyped since college, was the # pick and got the Pels 30 nat'l tv games all off of hype. If he plays 35 games, most of those games will be broadcast nationally and every Sportscenter and every other show in ESPN will lead off with Zion and Zion will dominate social media posts, he will win ROY even if they don't make the playoffs.

ESPN Love? No, Zion will win ROY

ESPN says NOP will make the playoffs. I get it. They have invested a lot into the Zion hype. Sadly, they are trying to ruin a great rookie campaign by Ja and throwing the Grizz under the bus in the process to push Zion for ROY because they awarded NOP all of those games. I predict Zion will have ongoing injury problems throughout his career. Don't wish anything bad on him, but I said that about him in college as well and he has yet to play an NBA game.
