    Can Someone Convince Me.....

...that this front office wanted to be in the playoffs this year? As I mentioned in another thread, we were overachieving and had a feel good season and then all of a sudden the front office made a trade and it has been downhill ever since. We lost vet leadership and then we had injuries. I truthfully and honestly think they did this to try and get a top 4 pick this year. The only complicating factor is that other teams were also losing so we have stayed in the playoff hunt. We were expected to win like 20 or so games and have won 33 games. I don't think they even wanted to be in the playoff race. I think they wanted to increase our chances at keeping the 4th pick. We were 26-25 before teh trade and have been 7-14. Convince me otherwise because I think the front office wanted to torpedo this season in hopes of getting that top 4 pick.

Just try copying and pasting the link without doing anything. It should automatically embed it but you need to use the link in the address bar. I think it works for most people but I have heard some people say it doesn't work for them. I use google Chrome and it works by just pasting.

Look at this B.S. i guess they wanted to beat us in hopes we don't make the playoffs so that they will get a better pick.

My bad 0-3. I'm still not convinced that Winslow will be that big of an upgrade for us. We shall see but I think he needs to play alongside a high scoring wing (not Dillon) to be the most effective and that's not something we have. He sure as heck won't be that guy.
  5. If Dillon made 1 more FG per game he would be in the upper 40% near 50% for FG and avg around 18ppg. I'm sure no one would have a problem with that. He's streaky and that's why I have said since day 1 that I would love to see him be our 6th man so that he comes off of the bench and light it up with teh second unit.

Yep, but dude used to live in South Memphis čśéčśéčśéčśé I remember watching an interview and they were talking about how Jerry Lawler and Jerry Jarrett filmed his intro in Jarret's back yard and tried to make it look like a jungle.Great gimmick !!! But he fell on hard times in recent years. I think he had both legs amputated due to diabetes and I know he was struggling financially. Vince M. messed him over big time and didn't pay him anywhere near what Hogan, the Undertaker and other big stars were getting paid although he was headlining too. He said Vince told him that's what he agreed to so that's what he got, basically shut up and leave me alone. He said he had no idea he was being underpaid. Sad story. I don't think they ever inducted him into the WWE HOF either. Just sad.

Beating the Bucks doesn't guarantee we make the playoffs, only the play-in and with as poorly as we have been playing and as well as POR and PHX have been playing, I don't see how anyone can realistically think we can get out of that especially now that POR is #8 and we're #9, so we would have to beat them twice now. My take on it is this....the team that is out there now, is not the team that put us in a position to be in the playoff hunt. We have been a different team ever since that trade. Before the trade, we had vet leadership from Crowder and Hill, we had a healthy JJJ, a healthy BC and Ja had found his groove. After that trade, JJJ was injured, Winslow was never healthy, then BC was injured and now in the bubble JJJ is injured, WInslow is still injured and Tyus is injured and we have no vet leadership. It's just a different team. It's not the same exciting team that got us here. We need a new cast of role players.

i'm saying that we overachieved and they made a move under the guise of "for the future" which blew our chances. I think they just wanted to avoid the playoffs, just my opinion.

Write up on the Bulls future specifically around Lavine. The Zach LaVine extension It was only two years ago that LaVine signed a four-year, $78 million offer sheet with the Sacramento Kings -- a contract the Bulls matched. In those two seasons, LaVine has averaged 23.7 and 25.5 points per game, respectively, making his $19.5 million per year salary one of the league's best bargains. However, in those two seasons, the Bulls' 44-103 record has somewhat overshadowed the play of LaVine, evident by his getting bypassed as an All-Star Game selection in February. "I've never won anything," LaVine told ESPN earlier this season. "Sometimes you get drafted to a really good team where you're already in the playoffs and you're a winning player, but I haven't experienced anything like that. I'm still trying to learn this like everybody else because it hasn't come easy for us." Since he was drafted by the Minnesota Timberwolves in 2014, LaVine has never reached the postseason. His most wins (29) came in his second season with the Timberwolves. The playoff futility is a reason why LaVine is often compared to Phoenix Suns star Devin Booker, an elite scorer who has not played in meaningful games past the All-Star break (though the Suns are trying to change that with an impressive run inside the bubble). LaVine is set to enter Year 3 of his contract with his third different head coach. The Bulls can extend him (something they can do as early as Oct. 18) for an additional three seasons starting in 2022-23, at a total salary of $76 million ($23.4, $25.3 and $27.1 million per year, respectively). The deadline for a new contract is Nov. 30, the eve of the scheduled start date of the 2020-21 season. The decision for LaVine could come down to multiple factors: Does LaVine have faith in the new management group led by Karnisovas? What is the blueprint on how this team can compete for a playoff spot? Besides $76 million in guaranteed money, what exactly are the pros of signing an extension? LaVine would become an unrestricted free agent in 2022, when he will be in the prime of his career at age 27. A new contract could put him in a Bulls uniform through 2024-25 on a team-friendly salary. If there is no extension, LaVine would enter the 2021-22 season on an expiring contract and be one of the most sought after names prior to the 2022 trade deadline.

Personally I think those weaknesses were exposed a long time ago and everyone knows what those are, lol. I look at this 8 gaMe stint as a pseudo-playoff experience. Every team was in thE playoff race in some way and most teams are playing playoff level bball. The difference is there is no travel, no fans and you played 8 teams instead of playing a best of 7 series against 1 team but I think they have been exposed to a pseudo-playoff environment already and should learn from it.

    Can Someone Convince Me.....

Personally, I think we unexpectedly overachieved and the F.O. made the trade under the guise of "planning for the future" but in reality wanted to keep our win total low. When that trade was made, there was no guarantee that Winslow would even play this season so in essence they already threw this season in the trash as they got rid of 2 contributors knowing that the guy they were obtaining may not even play. This is partially why I don't care about this bubble anymore because the team in the bubble is not the team that got us in the playoff hunt to be in the bubble so we are a shell of ourselves, especially with the injuries.

i think they already know, especially the vets. I'm also worried about a freak injury. At some point, we have to face reality. It's been good that the young guys have experienced a pseudo-playoff style environment but obviously we weren't prepared to up our game and then we had some bad luck as well. Quite honestly, I think they have learned as much as they could up to this point, play-in game or not, getting swept by the Lakers or not. We are clearly undermanned and missing 3 key players, we are clearly inexperienced and I hope this pseudo-playoff experience has helped them understand how to prepare for the playoffs better but I think we have learned all that we could learn in these 7 games.

I'm not attacking Levine. I'm just saying I have seen the story of a guy putting up high scoring averages on bad teams and then they aren't able to do the same on a good team or turn a bad team into a winner. It's a red flag to me, that's all. As far as Butler coming in, yes, I understand that and understand that he was an All-Star but seriously, wouldn't we expect Lavine to be an All-Star for us and up our win totals or are we just getting him to say we have a guy who averages 20+ ppg? I'm not a fan of Jimmy Butler because I think he is an arrogant cancer especially if things aren't going well. If I owned a team I wouldn't want him anywhere around but it does speak volumes that their team went up 16 wins with him replacing Lavine imo.

Memphis Grizzlies vs Boston Celtics 8/11/2020

He may be. But there are some red flags around him if you look. He's never played on a winning team. When Minny traded him, their win total went up 16 wins and in his 2 best scoring seasons (this year and last year), the Bulls won 22 games while he attempted around 20 shots per game. All of that could be attributed to the fact that he has been on bad teams or it could be him. I'd take a chance on him cause he's probably one of the few that's available but I question if he would make us better or if he would continue getting stats. Kind of like Trae Young in ATL who puts up eye popping stats but his team is still bad. Unlike Luka who clearly makes his team better.

Of course missing 3 key players hurt, I've said that time and time again but I don't think having those guys would have made that big of a difference. We were 0-4 with Jaren and let's face it, Tyus did not play well doing the scrimmages. I have no clue if Winslow is our starting 3, everyone assumes that yet he still hasn't been on the floor yet, similar to his frustrating stint in Miami. This was a playoff atmosphere and outside of JV and Kyle, no one on this team has any real playoff experience. hopefully they learn from this going forward.

I realize that, but what good would it do to win this? POR is playing DAL who really has nothing to gain cause if UTAH loses and DAL win, UTAH is still the 6th seed and DAL is still the 7th seed so I wouldn't be surprised if they rest people and POR easily wins. Trying to win this game does nothing for me. Even if we win, say we're the 9th seed, do you really think we can beat POR in 2 out of 3 games? Even if we do, do you think we could snag a game against the Lakers? I'm just over it and I think they have gotten all out of it that they could. I mean, they don't look good, it's kind of embarrassing to me. I don't want to risk injury to Ja or somebody else and have them out for part of next season in a game that is just delaying the inevitable
  20. Ole Dirty Klondike

GIANNIS HEADBUTTS MO WAGNER, SUSPENSION IMMINENT

it's over. We're in 9th place. Even if we win this game do you really think we can beat the Blazers twice to get into the playoffs? And even if we did, do you really think we would even snatch 1 game from the Lakers? We've had some bad luck and for the most part it has been an embarrassment. We have the second lowest win total so far, tied with the Pelicans (whose only victory is against us) and above the winless Wizards who should have never been in the bubble. So we're basically one of the worst teams in the bubble on a national stage. I'd rather it just be over. We had our chance but misfortune and inexperience has taken that chance away. Winning against the Bucks won't change anything except delay the inevitable. Just how I feel. You can feel differently all you want, that's your right, but I'm coming from a realistic point of view, not hopes and dreams of some magical last second run. I really don't care anymore with 1 game left. I want to watch good bball and the best basket ball would be POR vs PHX in the play-in and POR versus the Lakers in the 1st round cause they just may upset the Lakers who have not played well in the bubble (yet if they play us they would get their mojo back real quick). There is no argument there. I have had it up to here with Dillon and his bad shot selection, the ineffectiveness of Kyle, Melton, Dieng, and Tolliver. All we basically have is Ja, JV, and BC and JV's game is totally out of style with what most of these playoff teams are doing so they basically nullify him and get him into foul trouble. I think 7 games is enough. I don't expect many changes. We exceeded expectations this year. Most projections had us with around 20 wins and on the high side maybe mid-20s. We got 33 wins in a shortened season. After that trade, teams adjusted to Jenkins' coaching style, they adjusted to Ja, we lacked vet leadership and then obviously the injuries to Jaren and BC hurt really badly. Before that trade we were 26-25 (including the Dallas game when it happed and I was there at that game and quite irate), since that trade we are 7-14. We have no vet leadership. It's obvious to me that the front office didn't want to win this season taking a chance on an oft injured middle skill level player who hasn't suited up for us yet. To me it's over, we need to move on, we have been an embarrassment in the bubble but I don't expect much change in the offseason because I don't think the front office wants us to win next year either, I think they would prefer another lottery pick. Our season was basically over when we made that trade cause we had teh toughest remaining schedule in the league at that time. The front office knew what they were doing and they knew they were taking away wins. I truthfully and honestly believe they want a top 4 pick in this year's draft and did that trade to increase our chances of being in the lottery but other teams have been stumbling as well so we still have a playoff lifeline.

Yep, agree. That's why I rather it be over. We're not going to do anything. best case scenario is we get in the playoffs and get humiliated by the Lakers on teh national stage. For many people, this little 8 game stint of the Grizz is all they have seen and it has not been pretty. We're undermanned and inexperienced and it's showing. Exactly.

Why would this matter? Even if we keep the 8th, POR is going to beat us twice. We have no one and I mean no one to offset Dame and maybe Ja to offset McCollum. Not a good matchup. If we're 9 we definitely going out in 1 game. Even if we somehow make it to the playoffs, have we done anything encouraging to make us think they can steal 1 or 2 games? At this point, I wanna see good bball so I want to see POR and PHX in the play-in series and then POR and the LAL in the first round. We are totally impotent right now and are relying on other teams to lose to stumble into the playoffs. I used to want to make the playoffs when this started but we are young and banged up. We can't even beat the Flint Michigan Tropics right now.
