    2019 NBA DRAFT

Man i loved Vincent Askew!! That sounds like an endorsement to me!

The Grizzlies have created an NBA record $25M trade exception

Fantastic job . I think or FO has opened tons of options . as much as I don't wanna see us speed up a rebuild we could easily free up more space if we want and go after some nice wings

So do the "Core 4" gets statues or nah?

How about a statue of MC? He holds all the Grizzlies records and he could be the representative of that era.

Woj: Mike Conley traded to Utah

Before I talk about the draft picks, let me mention one thing: if you combine what the grizzlies got for Mike and Marc vs what the Pelicans got for Anthony Davis (which would you want). Jonas, Delon, Crowder, Grayson Allen, CJ Miles, Korver. 2nd round pick 2024, 1st round pick #23 this year, and a likely lottery pick in 2022, plus 25 million in capspace. It's a no-brainer. But that's not what my premise was, but it puts it in perspective that Mike and Marc got a whole lot more than the Pelicans got for AD. But lets now turn to the picks. The pelicans got #4 overall this year as their prize, the grizzlies are taking a lottery pick in 2022. Let's just assume that the pelicans win this, by how much would you say they won it by if the grizzlies get a top 10 pick in 2022? Probably not by much. The pelicans get 2 more first rounders, vs the grizzlies getting the 23rd pick. Assuming that one of the pels picks are in the 20s, then that's a wash, so the pels end up with 1 extra first round pick, two flawed players with various issues: Lavar Ball, broken shot/ Blood Clots and a marginal player thus far. Vs the grizzlies 25 million surplus, one functional great defender, 1 journeyman 3 point specialist, and a lottery ticket to possibly the best draft ever. You tell me.
  6. We are too close to the luxury tax to use it though. Great job only if we are able to use it. Otherwise it's just a wasted asset. Blind squirrel finding an acorn or excellent F.O. move is yet to be determined.
  7. Ok, fair enough, I'll keep my political opinions to myself. Let me just leave you with one thought. Toronto used to be called "Toronto the Good". I haven't been hearing anyone using that phrase lately. Have you? Even though Toronto threw one heck of a party for Kawhi and crew, I would be surprised if he re-signs. Shortly after being traded to the Raps, he bought a house in California. Why would he do that? He grew up in Cali and let's face it, the weather there is WAY nicer year round. His opportunities for endorsements are also way better in a large US city like L.A. Regardless if he stays or goes, he has earned the love and respect of all Raptors fans. Doesn't matter one way or the other to me, because since the Raps traded JV, I'm more of a Grizzlies fan now (which is why I'm on this board). How have you been coping since the trade? I know you're a JV fan.

Woj: Mike Conley traded to Utah

To my mind, the grizzlies got better players in the Marc Gasol trade then the Pelicans got in the Anthony Davis trade. I would take Jonas and Delon over Ingram and Ball all day every day. And it ain't close. What does this have to do with the Mike Conley deal: nothing, except to put in perspective the level of players that new orleans got. So now lets look at what Mike got the grizzlies. First, we got a 25 million dollar player exception, we got a solid defender 3-d guy in Jae Crowder and we got a first round pick last year #23, a player that may or may not amount to anything, and we got a 3 point specialist in Kyle Korver that can be useful to get draft picks. The grizzlies chose salary cap freedom over players, and I think you can agree that based on the players that the pelicans got, I would rather have the capspace.

    Probably somewhere around 70.

Woj: Mike Conley traded to Utah

What they got for Conley shows this FO is already a better negotiator than the Wallace led one. Good deal for what they had to work with. Age, salary.

Woj: Mike Conley traded to Utah

It’d have to be like a good young player and a first rounder or two first rounders for me to consider anything. That cap space will be big for us.
  14. For those who don’t know what this means, it means we can take up to $25M in salary without sending anything back. It expires in a year. Look for them to use it on players like Whiteside, Adams, Roberson, Schroeder, with a first round pick attached. The King Kleiman Era is upon us. Great job by the FO.

He might get the longer deal but not at that amount.

Woj: Mike Conley traded to Utah

Please explain to me what I said that was wrong there. I was directly quoting brian windhorst. Teams didn't want to trade for brandon ingram BECAUSE even though he had surgery to correct the issue, it doesn't mean that he won't have issues down the line which would force him out of basketball. If you don't like my comparison of andrew wiggins for him, please explain who YOU would compare ingram to?

Woj: Mike Conley traded to Utah

As far as Josh Hart is concerned, he is a big name that got a lot of recognition for falling to the second round, but has largely been a low bench player, with no real upside.
