What do you think Tyreke's value is?

Recommended Posts

Apparently Philly is interested in Reke, but they're reluctant to give up a first rounder. I guess they tried signing him this past offseason.

It looks like if the Griz get the coveted first rounder, then they have to take back some bum on salary.

Or they Griz could say, okay, how about a young player and a high second rounder?

I'd maybe take a flier on Holmes/Luwawu/Anderson and their second rounder which is decent. Maybe.

Yeah I would consider that too. Anderson plays hard.

We can take Bayless if it's the first round.

Tyreke/Wright for Bayless/Anderson/1st.

LOL

I just gotta say tyreke was fun to watch as a memphis tiger, and despite this bad season, tyreke was a joy to watch this year as a memphis grizzlie.  He has been our best player this year.   I just wish we could keep him.   Hopefully, the FO puts tyreke on a team where he can be successful if he does get traded.

Hopefully our FO gets something (or THINGS) in return for Tyreke Evans.  Otherwise, they are gonna throw more gasoline on this dumpster fire.

Trade deadline is less than 72 hours away.

I'm thinking that it will be a pair of 2nd round picks, or possibly trading a 1st rounder if it's not the team's own first round pick (For example, I don't think Boston trades their own 1st rounder, but possibly return the Grizzlies their first round pick, or Sixers trade away the Lakers 1st round pick).

Some of these teams that are getting thrown around can't trade a first round pick because they either don't have it or they traded the 2017 or 2019 pick, and you can't have consecutive 1st round picks traded. I don't think OKC, Portland, Houston, Miami, Spurs, or Warriors are buyers that would give up a first rounder to anyone. If the FO doesn't want salary back that carries over to next year that eliminates teams like Denver

If making a prediction today:
SIXERS: Tyreke and B Wright to Sixers for Trevor Booker (expiring contract) for some 2nd round picks (2018, 2020), although I hold out hope it would be a 2018 or 2019 first round pick.

CELTICS: Tyreke and future 2nd round pick for Larkin and Ojeleye and Grizzlies get their first rounder back (or Boston retains right to pick better of Boston or Memphis).

RAPTORS: I don't think the Grizzlies do a deal with the Raptors because Toronto already has traded away both their 2018 picks, and they can't trade away 2019, and are probably hesitant to trade away 2020, but if it is with Toronto, it will be Tyreke for either Nogueira or Caboclo and 2019 2nd rounder (but hoping for a 2020 first rounder).

Cavs could do a CW special, trade Tyreke for Derrick Rose, Jeff Green, and Jose Calderon.  I actually don't think the Cavs will trade anyone because they have no real picks to trade.  LeBron has already killed their future.

Minnesota has OKC's 1st rounder, and the Bucks have a few 2nd rounders to offer. Indiana won't give up a first rounder, and I don't think Washington will either, and they don't have 2nd rounders to give up.

What do we have to give up to get 30 games of LeBron James? I think I might do it... Heck, James could give us a fair shot at making the playoffs (2nd round) with just Dillon Brooks, Kobi Simmons, Selden, J Mart, Rabb, and Deyonta Davis as the rest of the rotation.

Yet somehow his current team is 4-6 in their last ten.

I wouldnt count Miami out just yet, they are looking to win, Reke might be interested in staying there beyond this year. Just not sure what they are willing to offer.

Your Philly trade may be acceptable but we would need to move Green. Booker plays with heart and is a good rebounder. I like him on the team better than Green

If I'm understanding the rules correctly, Miami already has traded 2018 1st rounder, but it is protected, so they can't trade their 19 or 20 either. They also don't have a 2nd rounder until 2022.  They could do some crazy 3-way, but they don't have any draft picks to deal. Maybe a 2023 1st rounder...doubt it.

They can stipulate that they will give it up two years after their current pick owed is surrendered.

But they also already owe another 1st rounder to the Suns (2021), besides the provisional 1st rounder they owe them now, and I don't think they can do back to back 1st rounders.

I still wonder about his reputation with other FO's.

It's not like teams couldn't work him out and offer him a 1 year deal, but he got only $3.3 mm.

I think most teams are going to lack flexibility and salary cap space in 2018, as much or more so than 2017.

While I believe based on comparisons he is a $13 mm/year player which the Grizzlies currently can't afford, he may be a $9-10 mm.

I think right now the value on Tyreke is, at best, a late first rounder, but more likely a 2nd rounder.

If the FO wants to tank the rest of this season, and bring back Mike, Marc, and Chandler with a high lottery pick, than they may believe that they can sign Tyreke, and he is worth it.

Apparently is value is off the charts.

Apparently his value was a young player and a 2nd round pick or multiple 2nd round picks.

I thought they could pull the late first from BOS, probably should've tried to switch their 1st with Grizz 2nd - only like 7 spots difference.

Reke and Grizz 2nd to BOS for French dude, 1st and Nader or Ojeley.

No excuse for not making a deal.

When you sent him home you have to.have a fallback deal(atleast 1, if not more) ready. Just in case all other attempts to get the first fail.

This. This sums it up.

It's not the lack of a deal that's damning. If there is a strategy in place that calls for not dealing Tyreke, I may disagree with it but I will not criticize the FO for taking steps according to that strategy.

What's damning is to act as if we were all out to trade him, all but saying that we had multiple offers on the table, taking him away from the team as if he was about to be shipped out, only to come back a week later with no deal at all. That's failure of the highest order.

reke is great but if we aren't going to resign him we need to cut him

seriously if he wasn't on the team there is no way we would sign him for the rest of the season as he would hamper development of the young guys and mess with our ascent in the inverted standings

Very good point. Reke was told, and ready to go to a playoff bound team. He can't be too happy about that. He will see it as costing him a lot of money, not being able to be show cased in the playoffs and just the extra money from being in the playoffs.

Don't see the Grizzlies waiving him though. It will point out what/who was offered just before the deadline for a waived player. Just not happening.

...which will further tick Reke off so the B.S. about resigning him to the MLE just will not happen either. Wallace totally burned this bridge.
