latest mocks from 12/28 - two of the most respected,,,nbadraft.net, Basketball Insiders,,,,looks like both have us keying in on the same guy, assuming we pick 4th, which is very realistic at this point,,,

Ugh...Im not feeling Doncic.  I was thinking that does look like a pick we'd make.

Our FO needs it to be a little clearer than finding a diamond in the rough. Some could find a great talent in the teens, but not our FO.

You would think they we should have lucked into at least one. smh.

Updated as of 12/29/2017 - coming up on 2018!

TEAM---------------RECORD--------GAMES BACK

Atlanta----------------25-9-------------------0.0

Dallas-----------------25-11-----------------1.0

Memphis------------24-11-----------------1.5

Orlando--------------24-12-----------------2.0

LA Lakers----------22-11------------------2.5

Phoenix-------------23-13------------------3.0

Charlotte-----------22-12------------------3.0

Brooklyn------------22-12------------------3.0

Sacramento------22-12------------------3.0

I've added the Lakers and Nets, and subtracted the Bulls. The way they're looking right now, they're going to leave the inverted standings in the rearview mirror. There's a lot of clutter towards the top of the inverted standings. Many teams within 3 games of the lead. Memphis though is closer now than they have been yet, as a result of the Hawks winning two games in a row.

Brooklyn has lost three straight. Keep on losing, Brooklyn. That just means a higher pick that we will have in next year's draft when we trade Gasol for your pick from Cleveland. ;)

Atlanta has Toronto tonight. Dallas has New Orleans tonight. And Memphis has Golden State tomorrow night.

Orlando looks scary right now.

How do you feel about Porter?

I'd guess that the Grizz will end up with one of these guys,,,,,and I won't complain

The New Big 3 - Conley, Gasol, (Doncic OR Porter)

Would be good with him (assuming no problems on physicals).  I like Bagley too.

With Doncic he plays a position that I'd love to see us fill with top talent.  I'm just not sure how well his game will translate to the NBA style.

Isn't the worst team the only team guaranteed a top 4 pick ?

The lottery only involves three drawings. After that it is in record order. So no team can fall more than three spots.

Toronto has suspended Serge Ibaka one game for a violation of team rules. He will sit out against Atlanta tonight. Go Hawks!

Magic blew a 16 pt lead...ugh.  Coming out of nowhere.

Terrible, but they're starting to get healthy again and I don't think they're going to be a real contender for the long haul. Hopefully not, at least.

Woohoo! With a .306 winning rate we are now Last In The West!
Only Atlanta below us now overall ....

All that and some decent development from Simmons and Martin and maybe Rabb.

Lookin' good.

Thats what rebuilding is about. Losing to get picks while young players get ample court opportunity. Not just "practice" time.

Just imagine where the Grizzlies would be without the good start to the season.

7-26 in the last 33 games. Since the 5-1 start.

Well the Grizzlies are now in last place in the Western Confrence. I hope that makes someone happy on the boards.

it just makes me sick.

They are 2.5 games out of last place in the league. Not good enough to put a smile on my face.

I don't know who it makes happy, but all you can do in this world is spin the positive from the negative - hopefully this season yields a lottery pick and some assets (from trades).

If a roster spot opens up, there is one signing that would be bring sweet harmony to the tanking situation.

Yep, it's time to sign Hasheem Thabeet for the rest of the season, and give him all those minutes Heisley wanted him to play.

Please get a top 4 pick, this season is a complete write off.

It's the only way the season can be saved.  With Conley resting up and a top 4 pick (I really like the look of Michael Porter Jr, inspite of his injury) the season can be saved/redeemed.  Without a top 4 pick.. the season is an utter disaster.

The next few years could be a disaster either way.. barely anyone is left over from the winning chemistry days.. but as long as there is Conley/Gasol there is reason for optimism.. and add a future superstar into that mix.. and there is hope for next year.

I don't like the idea of tanking for 5 years straight and doing a Lakers because that culture starts to set in.. and then everyone forgets what it used to feel like to win.. but for one year.. similar to the Spurs.. it has potential that it could work out ok.  Parsons is still a problem though, and there is a serious lack of depth in the entire roster.  Depth used to be a strong point but year after year, players walked or signed with other teams and it slowly dwindled away.  And now it's non existent.

With lavine back, bulls are too good compared to us.

We're definitely one of the five worst, cracking the top 3 will be hard.

I think a key, overlooked, component of the inverted standings watch is not just cheering for bad teams to win, but also teams 6-9 in the West (Pelicans, Clippers, Nuggets, Blazers) to win as well.

The earlier the Grizzlies are eliminated from the playoffs, the earlier we can let Conley, Parsons, and Gasol start healing for next year.
