2015 Nba Draft

Recommended Posts

Myles Turner could be a great pick for us if he comes out.  He could fall.  He was a highly rated guy and is a shot blocker with some range.  He could be a stretch 4 for us or even a stretch 5.  Le'Bryan Nash was a big recruit coming out of HS who kind of fell of the map.  He is coming back up, and he could give us some scoring at the 3 spot.  I like Aaron Harrison as a backup big point if Calathes goes somewhere else.  Those are probably my top 3 "name" guys.  Then the Wisconsin kids are two I would look at if they are there: Kaminsky and Sam Dekker.  Who knows if Austin Nichols will come out?  If he does, then I like him as a Jon Leuer replacement.  Nichols' shot blocking helps his case, too.  Justin Anderson would seem to be a "safe pick" and would help fill a need (SF depth).  Personally, I would look at athletic stretch 4's.  I would use some analytics: find out if there are any guys out there who are 6'9/6'10 or taller, non-gator arms, 35 inch vertical (or better), 40% from 3, 2 offensive rebounds a game, 1 block, 1 steal a game, and more assists than turnovers.  Don't care what his name is or what college he goes too.  That's what I want!

Myles Turner is the kind of late high upside prospect that you look for.  Shotblocker with a great touch but isn't producing yet.   I could see him falling as well.

Do you think he declares for the draft?  On the one hand, he is not producing.  On the other hand, might as well come out now, before risking dropping even further off the radar.  Oh and in another post, I got my Harrison Twins confused.  Aaron is the wing.  Andrew is the point guard.  I would look at both (if they come out).  Andrew as a Calathes replacement if we need one.  Aaron as one of those "wings" to work out.  He hit some big shots last year so that is very encouraging.  We could use a shooter with some swagger off the bench.

Oh who knows if he declares right now.  He would be smart to stay, IMO.  But guys like him leave all of the time.

What about RJ Hunter? He's known to be a shooter with good size, a high basketball IQ, and has the intangibles you want in a player. He has trouble creating for himself but that is something that can be improved.

Haven't heard of him.  I will look him up.  ... JP Tokoto looked impressive last night in the Duke-UNC game.  Looks more like a high motor/scrappy guy than a shooting specialist but we could always use another TA (our "need" other than a stretch 4 and backup shot blocker.)

We absolutely have to get a prospect for the future with this year's pick, especially since we'll be without picks for a few years.

yeah, and at a bad time for us when we have to pay pricey guys like Gasol and Conley and then pay up to keep Jeff Green, Koufos, and Calathes.  So, yeah, not sure we have to hit a home run, but we can't strike out either.  We need to come away with a deep rotation guy at worst.

We should have a pick on 2016 unless we finish between 6-14.

Aren't we required to have a first round pick in alternating years due to the Stepien rule?

In future years yes. This is why the pick to the Celtics can only start 2 years after the Denver pick is fulfilled

While it's a little early for this thread we need to bolster the frontcourt this offseason for sure. I'm hopin for Bobby Portis to fall or Alex Poythress to show he's healthy cuz he could be a steal too.

Let Koufos walk, keep Leuer, Green and Stokes. Draft Poythress, sign a big like Brandon Bass and proceed to championship.

The days of finding late round gems overseas have passed, there is too much exposure now. The Spurs found Parker and Ginobili in the last parts of the first and second rounds, respectively, when there was very little knowledge of what was going on. Now if you are 12 and you dunk a basketball it is blasted on youtube with 200,000 hits by the end of the week.

Don't sleep on Nemanja Dangubic. He will be a player in a few years.

I haven't seen anyone mention Caleb Tarcewzski (sp?) from Arizona. He's got really good size, and some athletic ability. He seems to have improve from year to year. I don't see him replacing Koufos as soon as next season, but in a couple of years he could be a good backup True C. What we will really need next year is frontcourt depth.

Rj hunter from Georgia state is a HIGH volume shooter. He needs his shots and doesn't play a lick of defense. His dad makes his team play 2/3 zone mainly because his son sucks at defense and wants him fresh to get his shots up.

No backup center?  Crazy.  I'd rather resign Kosta if there is a way.

Not if its going to cost too much anything North of 5mil is too much for a back up thats only getting 15mins a night.

I don't watch Arizona much but he looks pretty good.  Looks like a solid draft for backup 5's.  Him and Dakari Johnson and maybe Domantas Sabonis if he comes out.  I still would like to go after a stretch 4.  Kyle Wiltjer for Gonzaga had a good game but he is probably more of a tweener.  Sam Dekker might be a better 3/4 type.  ... if we go after a Grit/Grind type guy then we should look at J.P. Tokoto if he comes out.  Had a great game against Duke and he looks like a really good athlete.  More of a TA replacement than a 3/4 or a shooter, but who knows who will be the best guy on the board?  Lots of this depends on who comes out and who stays.

Timothe Luwawu.  This is not some rinky dink prospect.  For a late round pick (as of now) I am thoroughly impressed.  Seems to play the game the right way and has some upside.

I want him too he's 19 so he would fit the youth movement we need to start in the next couple years pluse we can leave him overseas so we can have another go at a championship if they feel the need next season. I've watched that video a few times and his weaknesses are all things that can be corrected with experience and good coaching. He's my pick for this years draft.

Admittedly I have not seen him until this video, but love his profile. Someone to keep on the radar.

French prospects are the only European perimeter players worth drafting because they learn basketball the correct way rather than the gimmick ball other Euro countries teach
