I'm coming in town for the game Saturday. Any suggestion on a quick place to eat before the game? I'm worried Jack Daniels may be really crowded.

After Wednesday nights effort one can hope but I wouldn't expect a big crowd.

It won't be that crowded man, you can trust that.

on Beale st:

Blues City Café (great steaks!)
Kings Palace Café (quieter, more upscale dining)
Jerry Lee Lewis' Honky Tonk (quicker style eats - burgers, fried chicken) - good music

They are my favourites

I don't live in Memphis, but it's comforting to see that there are still some normal threads on here, so I'm gonna give this one a bump.

Alfred's sucks in ways you can't even imagine. Trust me, I know of what I speak although that is all I want to say.

There are soo many cool creative places to all over Downtown. Why go get a regular ole burger or the generic sandwich w/ fries?

The guy asked for a place to go get a quick bite before the game. Alfred's has decent beer deals, a varied menu and is pretty **** close to the Forum. I guess the hundreds of people that I see coming and going from Alfred's before, during, and after games are just idiots. Mindless lemmings right?

You have a bit of anonymity on these boards so if you know of unclean conditions in the kitchen, do tell. I have worked in the food industry when I was younger. I know the people back there arent always the most trustworthy. I dont like eating out having to trust strangers to handle my food but we do sometimes.

Also, if you have some ideas for the guy or for any of us not experiencing the varied delicacies that downtown has to offer share then instead of tearing down my suggestion.

Thanks guys! And He's right I will have an hour or less to eat so I don't really care if it's a 5 star restaurant. I mainly want fast. Alfred's is a good idea! I used to eat there when I was working on Beale.
