Espn: Conley And Grizz Agree On 5Yr, $153 Million Deal

Recommended Posts

I have such mixed emotions about this. Never thought I would have said that after knowing that we signed Conley 4 hours ago. Never would I have imagined that he would have gotten the full 153 MAX.

Happy Mike is a Grizz. But ****. 153 million? I was honestly expecting 115-130.

No more excuses for Conley.

He got the player HE pined for in Parsons....

He got the max contract.

The organization gave him the keys to the franchise.

No more "underrated" crap. He is the man and needs to get the job done.

They are definitely "swinging for the fences" . This level of aggression is completely out of character

never thought Conley would be the highest paid player in NBA history

Other 5-year deals:  Batum $120  Beal $128   Drummond $130  DeRozan $145

Yet to come: Durant, James, Nowitzki, Wade

Indeed. He finally gets the chance, and I hope he makes the most of it.

Y'all think the FO is pretty certain he will overcome the nagging injuries with this commitment to him?

Holy smokes.

I guess we were all wrong in saying the Grizz were going to give Conley max....NOT!!

mike being an all star is way less important than team winning

as long as he plays at a high level and we win and make deep playoff runs

we win championship I could care less his individual stats but your point is taken- he needs to play at highest level he's ever played

If the Parsons and Conley contracts have the 1st year at the long-term average (23/Parsons, 30/Conley), then we are already over the 94mil cap by about 5mil (not even including Carter's 4.1mil) or so.

So what're we gunna do now?

I really like both players, but I don't see how we're going to round out our roster with both guys being so overpaid.

That 30 million plus per year is just crazy for a borderline star player but congrats to mike conley.  So is the math approximately 30+21+24+10=85 million=4 starters?  Does that leave like 13 million for the rest of the team?

Will lebron now demand $40 million plus per year?

What happens when the cap goes down just a little bit as rumored for 2018-19?

One good thing is the grizz are stepping up but dayum.

The cap will go up again next year. I think the number was 110mil, but don't quote me on that. The following year it will go back down to, I think, 104mil. So even after it goes down, it will still be higher than it is now.

There is a high correlation between winning and being an all star.

It is no longer good enough for him to put up 15 and 6 even if the team wins. Conley is now at the level where he has to do both, where he has to be responsible for wins and not just play a part.

He is getting paid and has been treated as a franchise player, the bare minimum of what is acceptable is all star level play.

I'm sure the contracts are not structured on an average basis. Most contracts are structured with a 7.5% increase each season. Conley's deal will start somewhere around $25M and I'm not quite sure about Parsons.
