Celts, Lakers, Grizz...

Recommended Posts

Memphis Trades: Jeff Green, Vince Carter, Jarnell Stokes

Memphis Receives: Isiah Thomas, Evan Turner

Boston Trades: Isiah Thomas, Evan Turner

Boston Receives: Jordan Hill, Jarnell Stokes

LAL Trade: Jordan Hill

LAL Receive: Jeff Green, Vince Carter

- Boston might want to move Thomas. After picking Rozier in the draft, they now have small combo guards in Smart, Bradley (big contract) and Rozier. Hill is a good player who relieves their cap as he an expiring w/ a Team Option contract for 15/16. They get Stokes for the future. Admittedly they might be able to get more for Thomas, but the may favor the blank slate cap room Hill's TO offers them.

- LAL have to take on Carter's bad contract, but get a very good SF in Green who could help them attract FAs, and compete in 15/16. Hill was likely not in their long-term plans.

- The Grizz get some serious firepower off the bench in Thomas who can score and has the deep range we've been missing at backup PG. Turner gives us Defense, and playmaking at either wing spot. Both players take pressure off Conley. We lose Carter's bad contract and save some cap room for 15/16 in the process. Being able to part ways w/ Beno saves us even more room.

Memphis Grizzlies:

Conley, Thomas, (Smith/Harrison)

Lee, Adams

Allen, Turner, Barnes

Randolph, Green, Martin

Gasol, FA

The Celtics are not going to trade Thomas and Turner for two guys that don't belong in an 8 man rotation.

Well, if you would have read my explanation... the Celts might have been interested in Hill's contract which at the time they could have voided giving them cap room to sign any of the then available FAs. Teams do that sort of thing all the time.

I read your explanation above. Danny Aigne is not going to give IT2 up for nothing, he would rather let his contract expire. You have to think like Ainge in order to fake trade like Ainge.
