As long as our bigs stop Lee and our perimeter defenders stop Curry, and we continue to score like we did against Sac, we should win this game. GO GRIZZLIES!!

Lionel's post game talking about Wayne last night saying hopefully Wayne can continue to shoot the ball well and have more games like this and not 25 games apart, well.... Let him shoot! Run him plays! Zbo draws a double team every single time he gets it, our shooters need to be ready to catch and shoot the three every time he gets it including Rudy. I get so sick of Rudy passing up a wide open 3 to go in and take a contested shot or lose the **** ball. Part of our game plan should be 3 looks off of Rudy and zbo double teams. It seems like teams are always hitting 3s on us doing the exact same thing, to add this to our gameplan and shoot more consistently would be deadly. Back to grizzness

Plus it would open up zbo and Marc to do more down low, as far as tony.. He is at his best when he is slashing down the lanes and going for offensive rebounds. He needs to be just as active and pesty on offense as he is on defense

Must win!

What? It is a big game and a statement game IF the Grizzlies win because they would have swept the Warriors in Oakland but a must win?

This is the team's 33rd game meaning they still have 50 games left this season. It's a little early to have a must win game isn't it?

I say that because its a 4-5 battle and could very well end up deciding the home court adv in round 1

The standings will change between now and April. It's a big game because going 3-0 on a West Coast road trip doesn't happen all that often but the standings in January rarely determine anything in April. It's a big game for sure but hardly a must win.

It's a must win for team morale. And as the OP said it could possibly be a tie breaker. So yes a game in January very well could determine something in April. Sometimes I think you just want to argue with people.

Yeah it's not literally a must win, well be okay if we lose. But for the team and the current standings, I think it's safe to say a huge game and a "fan perspective" must win

I said this. Does anyone disagree with it? Even the poster who said it was a must win has changed his mind and admits it isn't a must win. It would be great to win as we would sweep the games at their place and would move that much further ahead of them in the standings but it isn't a must win.

It's not a must win for team morale either. Let's not get too excited here. There are 50 games left in the season. This game means nothing if the team gets squashed by the Spurs Friday night. It would be a nice win but in the scheme of an 82 game season the first game meant more. The Grizzlies were coming off a loss and didn't want to start the season 0-2. If they lose this game they still went 2-1 on teh road trip and still need to beat the Spurs Friday night.

I think due to the upcoming schedule and the way we have been playing lately (not good) it is more of a must win then not.. We could easily fall behind these guys fast if we let them grab one against us.. And Houston is on our tail. We need a win

The Grizzlies scored 113 points last night and held the Kings (who had won 6 of 8 games) to below 90 points. The night before they won going wire to wire. They defeated the Celtics (who have now one three straight games) in Boston and lost by two points to a hot Blazers team without Zach Randolph. Just how bad are the Grizzlies playing right now?

Every game is a must win if we are talking about keeping momentum and the such but the reality is this is not a must win game. It woudl be a great win. It could be the type of win that keeps the Grizzlies moving ahead going into a divisional game Friday night against a team that we haven't defeated since upsetting them in the playoffs two years ago (0-5 since). That game on our home court is much closer to a must win than this game. People trivialize the terms when they make it sound like the Grizzlies have to win a road game at the end of winning road trip.

It would be a great win for sure but losing to the Warriors at their place at the end of 3 games in 4 days on the road isn't the end of the world. A must win has to be more important than this game doesn't it?

That actually proves some Posters wrong about the correlation between gamepace/scoring and our defense. We can still play good defense and play at an increased pace AND shoot a larger number of threes AND hold a team below 90pts and low % from the field.

Also the starters rotation got less minutes and the bench brought in earlier rotation. Bench was the main catalyst for the 3pt shooting and played as true change of pace. These were all proven true and beneficial as some Posters have theorized.

I hope Hollins sticks with this if so then I will gladly eat crow about him adapting.

"Some posters" point was that missed threes could cause an issue for transition defense. Obviously, 11-20 made three pointers don't cause anything but for the other team to take the ball out.

I also wouldn't use a game against the Sacramento Kings, fourth worst in point differential, as the barometer. Let's take a bunch of threes Monday night at the Forum and see what happens...(assumming they shoot a normal percentage)

How about hitting 11 of 20 Friday night too!

I would be bothered if the Grizzlies threw up a bunch of three point shots against the Lakers who are without Dwight Howard, Pau Gasol and Jordan Hill inside. The Grizzlies should abuse the Lakers in the paint in that game and not allow any long rebounds for Nash and Bryant to break out with.

The main issue that everyone can agree on is that we are a great three point shooting team and we have great 3 pt shooters, yet sometimes it feels as tho we don't even have a place for what could be a huge advantage for us and what could open up our inside game even more in our game plan.

As long as our bigs stop Lee and our perimeter defenders stop Curry, and we continue to score like we did against Sac, we should win this game. GO GRIZZLIES!!

I will have 2 scoops of this to be sure. Curry doesnt have the bum ankle yet this year so he is simply amazing from long range. So glad we didnt draft him when we could have. He would have definitely reduced our points in the paint. LOL

Lets just say, I hope Curry doesnt go for 35. He is going to get 25 most likely. Just limit Klay Thompson and DLee and Carl Landry. Oh yeah, and limit Jarrett freakin Jack who comes in off the bench. Now that is tough right there. Jack can score in bunches.

This could be ugly if they get that crowd jacked up and they are hitting 3s. We just have to keep our cool and see what happens. Hope Wayne E is still on "FIYAH!!!"

Aren't they all must win games? Funny that there was discussion as to whether it was or was not a must win game haha. Grizzlies win by 9.
