  1. Potential Offseason Trade

They usually don't transform teams, but they provide the bottom 9 guys on each roster, and you need those guys. A few of them become top-8 guys, and a fair number of them flame out and end up in China or Berserkistan, but still.
  2. Robert Pera

Pera may be, and a new owner would almost certainly be, a business person whose main concern is not wins, or fan satisfaction, or anything except the rising value of the franchise. Which will go up a lot with an inattentive owner, and a lot plus one percent for a skilled and active owner. And it will go up by a LOT more than the difference between what we paid a player and what we should have paid him. So be careful what you ask for. For every Mark Cuban there is a Donald Sterling.
  3. Memphis @ Oklahoma 02/11/18

Having Anthony out probably improves OKC.
  4. I see Reke playing well in several tight losses, then suffering a bad case of demeaning plebney, or perhaps an ingrown toenail, and having to sit until we have enough losses to coast a bit. Anyone here old enough to remember demeaning plebney?
  5. OJ Mayo

    No thanks.
  6. 2018 trade deadline thread

He knew too, but he had to try.
  7. Fire Chris Wallace NOW

That does NOT make sense. Do we earn that much from two home playoff games?
  8. 2018 trade deadline thread

You may be right. Some of the teams we thought would grab him to make a playoff push must have thought, "ya know what? With him we still don't beat GSW, SAS, HOU, ... let's keep that pick."
  9. Fire Chris Wallace NOW

He needs a chance to give an explanation. Except that I can't imagine what he could say that would make sense.
  10. 2018 trade deadline thread

Don't worry - what's past is pasta, we've passed it by.
  11. 2018 trade deadline thread

That's pretty much everyone in the NBA.
  12. 2018 trade deadline thread

OK. If that one's true, only two options: (1) Solid plan to keep Reke (2) Wallace is beyond incompetent. I hope it's 1.
  13. 2018 trade deadline thread

Hardly fair, when he didn't accept it, and we have no reason to believe he gave it serious consideration. If I ask $8000 for my used car and you counter with $4000, you can't accuse me of trying to make a $4000 deal.
  14. 2018 trade deadline thread

What if Plan B always was to keep Reke, because he's told them he wants to play in Memphis? The answer might have been, "OK, but if we can get a 1st for you we have to take it." Unless this was an option all along, you take even a bad deal; therefore it WAS an option. Imagine, for example, if we got a high second or a low first from team X for a Reke Rental. Then (pretend this is possible) in August a trade is offered where (somehow) we give up that pick to get Reke back. Do you take that offer? At Lou W's pay level, yes you do.
  15. 2018 trade deadline thread

If Reke tells them he's willing to stay, it comes down to this: Would you rather have him or Faried?
  16. 2018 trade deadline thread

He'd be as good as anyone else we can hope to get. And if we went free-market someone would outbid us.
  17. 2018 trade deadline thread

Did you want us to win those games?
  18. 2018 trade deadline thread

That may have been a fake Woj account.
  19. Utah @ Memphis 02/07/18

Is Parsons available tonight? Also, I see it's Dillon's turn to be tankmaster tonight. Seems fair.
  20. 2018 trade deadline thread

It is also possible that his market value just isn't that high. They've said they'd take a first or the best offer on the table, with several known bidders. Looks like sound strategy to me. Let's wait and see if anyone blinks.
  21. Memphis @ Atlanta 02/06/18

Apparently Selden is unable to score unless I have posted about it. so go ahead, Wayne, score a couple.
  22. Inverted Standings Watch

In a battle of cellar-dwellers Tuesday night, Atlanta beat Memphis 1-0, a new NBA record for lowest-scoring game. Andrew Harrison's deliberate miss of a free throw with 3 seconds left was judged unsportsmanlike conduct, and a technical foul was called. After consultation with the league office, Atlanta was warned that another deliberate miss would be dealt with severely. Kent Bazemore put up a decent shot, with a huge spin on it in the hope that it would rim the hoop and come back out, but to Atlanta's dismay, the ball fell through the hoop.
  23. Parsons return?

^ This, especially first point If he's able to play at a decent level, this gives us a chance to see how he can be used with the other players we'll be keeping, rather than having to do it next October.
  24. 2018 trade deadline thread

The usual reply to such things is "Delete your account"
  25. What do you think Tyreke's value is?

Yet somehow his current team is 4-6 in their last ten.
